The Olight i3E EOS is the classic among ultra-compact torches. In contrast to the previously discussed i1R 2 Pro (which has a fixed battery), this model is operated with a perfectly normal AAA battery (Micro). It is renowned for its simplicity: there is only a single lighting mode. Due to its very attractive price and robust construction, it is one of the world's most popular backup lights, which you simply forget on your key ring until you need it.

- AAA battery operation: Operated with a single standard AAA battery (or a NiMH cell like Eneloop). This means: simply replace the empty battery, no need to wait for charging.

- Choose the i3E EOS (AAA) if: You want a lamp for emergencies that will still work instantly after 5 years in a drawer (with a lithium battery), or if you’d prefer to swap batteries quickly rather than recharge. It is also more affordable.
- Choose the i1R 2 Pro (USB-C) if: You use the lamp daily. Constantly buying AAA batteries would get annoying. The i1R 2 Pro is also brighter (180 lm) and even shorter.

FAQs about the Olight i3E EOS
Can I use 10440 lithium-ion cells?
No, not officially. A 10440 cell is the size of an AAA battery, but provides 3.7 volts (instead of 1.5V). If you insert one, the torch becomes extremely bright (approx. 300+ lumens), but will get hot within seconds and the LED can burn out. The electronics are not designed for this. Stick to alkaline (1.5V) or NiMH cells (1.2V).
Why does the silver version have more lumens?
The silver i3E is not painted/anodised like the black or colourful versions, which has a minimal impact on heat dissipation, but the main reason is often a different LED driver for this specific edition. It provides 120 lumens instead of 90, but the runtime is slightly lower (approx. 35 min vs. 45 min).
Is a clip included?
No. The i3E EOS has no pocket clip. It only features a small ring at the end to attach it to a key ring. It is designed purely as a keychain light.
