Beltrona 12V/3A desktop charger with crocodile clip - Fast and safe charging
Description
Product information
The Beltrona 12V/3A desktop charger is a compact and extremely reliable solution for regular and gentle charging of 12-volt lead-acid batteries. It perfectly bridges the gap between weak trickle chargers and large, unwieldy workshop equipment. With a constant charging current of 3 amps (3000 mA), it quickly restores discharged batteries to full power without thermally stressing the cell chemistry with excessive currents.
Equipped with robust, colour-coded crocodile clips, the charger can be connected to almost any standard battery terminal in no time at all. Thanks to the intelligent, microprocessor-controlled charging electronics, the device works fully automatically. As soon as the final charging voltage is reached, it switches to trickle charging and thus effectively protects the battery from harmful overcharging.
Highlights at a glance
- Universal compatibility: Perfectly suited for all common 12V lead-acid types (wet batteries, maintenance-free AGM, VRLA and gel batteries).
- Fast charging process: Provides a powerful 3 ampere charging current for fast and battery-friendly recharging.
- Flexible crocodile clips: Enables fast, safe and universal connection to a wide range of battery terminals.
- Comprehensive safety: Integrated protection mechanisms against short circuit, reverse polarity (incorrectly connected terminals) and overload.
- Fully automatic: Automatic switchover to trickle charging after a full charge to maximise battery life.
- Compact design: The lightweight plastic desktop housing fits anywhere and is easy to store or transport.
Areas of application
The Beltrona 12V/3A charger is the ideal all-rounder for workshops, garages and hobby rooms:
- Two-wheelers & motor vehicles: Ideal for charging motorbike, scooter, quad bike or smaller car batteries.
- Garden & Leisure: Ensures full batteries for ride-on mowers, boats, golf caddies or electric fencing devices.
- Safety technology: For the maintenance and occasional recharging of 12V buffer batteries in alarm systems or small UPS systems.
- Hobby & modelling: Reliable power supply for charging 12V lead-acid batteries in feed boats or large modelling vehicles.
Assembly & safety instructions
- Correct connection sequence: For safety reasons, always connect the red terminal to the positive pole (+) and the black terminal to the negative pole (-) of the battery first. Only then insert the mains plug into the socket.
- Good ventilation: Gases can be produced when charging open lead-acid batteries. Always charge batteries in well-ventilated rooms and avoid flying sparks in the immediate vicinity.
- Dry environment: The charger is designed for use in dry indoor areas (workshop, cellar, garage). Be sure to protect the housing from rain and direct moisture.
- Safe disconnection: When charging is complete, first disconnect the mains plug from the socket. Only then remove the crocodile clips from the battery terminals.

FAQs about the Beltrona desktop charger 12V/3A
For which battery sizes (Ah) is this charging current optimal?
Best for capacities from approx. 10 Ah to 30 Ah. With 3 amps, you can charge these medium-sized batteries (e.g. from a ride-on mower or motorbike) quickly and gently. You can theoretically also connect larger car batteries (e.g. 60 Ah), but a full charge will then take longer (roughly approx. 20 hours).
Can I use it to charge lithium batteries (Li-Ion or LiFePO4)?
No, this is not recommended. The voltage curve of this charger is specially tailored to the cell chemistry of lead batteries. Lithium batteries require different charging characteristics and often require communication with the battery management system (BMS). Using a pure lead-acid charger can damage lithium cells.
Will the device overcharge my battery if I leave it connected for days?
No, the device works fully automatically. As soon as the charger recognises that the battery is fully charged, it automatically switches to trickle charging. Only very small currents then flow, which merely compensate for the natural self-discharge of the battery.Reviews 0
