  • Dual-purpose functionality: Outstanding performance as a starter battery for the engine and as a cycle-proof supply battery for the on-board electronics.
  • Extreme vibration resistance: Up to 15 times more vibration resistant than conventional batteries, ideal for tough use on the water.
  • Absolutely maintenance-free and leak-proof: The sealed AGM construction allows installation in almost any position.
  • High charging efficiency: Charges back up significantly faster than conventional lead-acid batteries.

Maximum performance for marine and leisure vehicles

The OPTIMA BlueTop BT DC 4.2 has been developed specifically for the extreme demands in marine and motorhome applications. It delivers the massive power needed to start boat engines and at the same time reliably and long-lastingly supplies energy-hungry consumers such as trolling motors, sound systems, navigation devices and the galley. Its ability to withstand hundreds of charge and discharge cycles makes it the perfect all-in-one solution for a long and carefree day on the water or on holiday.

Superior SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®

At the heart of every OPTIMA battery is the unique SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. Instead of flat lead plates, high-purity lead spirals are used, which are wrapped with a glass-fibre mat (AGM). This compact and extremely stable design minimises the plate gap, maximises the active surface area and reduces internal resistance. The result is an unrivalled starting performance, extreme vibration resistance, longer service life and faster rechargeability.

Built for the most demanding conditions

The OPTIMA BlueTop is designed for tough use. Its sealed construction not only prevents acid leakage but also evaporation, making it completely maintenance-free. The robust construction and extreme vibration resistance ensure that waves, vibrations and shocks cannot harm the battery. Thanks to its low self-discharge, it is also the ideal choice for seasonal use.

FAQs about the OPTIMA BlueTop battery

What is the main advantage of SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®?

The spiral cell technology provides an extremely robust and vibration-resistant internal structure, a very low internal resistance for high starting currents and a longer service life compared to traditional batteries with flat plates. It combines the benefits of a starter battery with those of a deep-cycle battery.

What is the difference between OPTIMA BlueTop, YellowTop and RedTop?

BlueTop: Specialist for marine and leisure vehicles, often with additional threaded connections. Available as a pure starter battery (dark grey housing) and as a dual-purpose battery (light grey housing) like this model. YellowTop: A pure dual-purpose battery for land vehicles with high energy requirements (e.g. off-road vehicles with winch, large hi-fi systems). RedTop: A pure high-performance starter battery for maximum starting power.

Which charger do I need for this AGM battery?

For AGM batteries, and especially for OPTIMA batteries, a modern, microprocessor-controlled charger is recommended which has a special charging profile for AGM batteries. This ensures complete and gentle charging and maximises the service life.

Can I install the battery in any position?

Yes, thanks to the sealed AGM spiral cell construction, the battery is leak-proof and can be mounted in almost any position, offering additional flexibility when installing in tight spaces on boats or motorhomes.

How should this lead-acid battery be disposed of?

Lead-acid batteries contain environmentally harmful substances and must not be disposed of with household waste. You can return your old battery free of charge at any retailer selling new batteries or at municipal recycling centres to ensure proper disposal.

Yuasa NP2.3-12 VdS industrial battery 12 V 2.3 Ah

The Yuasa NP2.3-12 is a maintenance-free VRLA industrial battery with VdS approval. It impresses with its compact dimensions, reliable power delivery and a service life of up to 5 years. Ideal if you need a stable 12-volt supply in a compact space for safety and emergency power applications.Highlights at a glanceReliable capacity: 2.3 Ah at 20-hour discharge down to 10.5 V at 20 °C.Compact and lightweight: 178 x 34 x 64 mm at 0.95 kg.Flexible mounting: Operation in any position except permanently upside down.Low self-discharge: About 3 percent per month at 20 °C.Especially safe: Low pressure relief valves, UL recognised materials.Easy installation: FASTON plug-in connection 4.7 mm.Maximum performance for compact applicationsDespite its small size, the NP2.3-12 delivers high charging currents for short periods. Up to 69 A for 1 second and 23 A for 1 minute are possible. The measured internal resistance is 90 mΩ at 1 kHz. This makes the battery particularly suitable for fire and intruder alarm systems, emergency and safety lighting, controllers, measuring instruments as well as small UPS and buffer applications.Efficiency meets long service lifeThe EUROBAT classification as Standard Commercial stands for a typical service life of 3 to 5 years at 20 °C. The low self-discharge supports long service times. The housing is made as standard from ABS to UL94 HB, with an optionally available flame-retardant FR version to UL94 V0. Valve-regulated recombination and low-maintenance operation ensure high operational safety.Technology for flexible applicationsThe battery can be operated in almost any position except permanently upside down. The operating temperature range for charging and discharging is minus 20 °C to plus 60 °C. For float charging, 13.65 V ±1 percent is provided, with temperature compensation of minus 3 mV per cell and degree Celsius. For fast charging, 14.50 V ±3 percent applies, compensation minus 4 mV per cell and degree Celsius.  For float charging, no current limitation is required, for fast charging 0.575 A is recommended. Sufficient ventilation must be ensured, as hydrogen can be produced with VRLA batteries.Electrical connection is via FASTON 4.7 mm plug-in connectors. The compact design facilitates installation in narrow housings and racks.Features  ModelYuasa NP2.3-12 VdS Battery typeVRLA AGM (cycle-resistant, maintenance-free) Nominal voltage (V)12 Capacity (Ah)2.3 (at 20h rate) Maximum discharge current23A (for 5 seconds) Charging voltage (float charge)13.65V (±1%) Charging voltage (cyclic operation)14.7V (±3%) Operating temperature (°C)-15 ~ 50 Storage temperature (°C)-20 ~ 50 Service lifeHigh cycle life Dimensions (L/W/H, mm)178 x 35 x 66 Weight (kg)1 ConnectionBlade terminal CertificationsIEC 60896-21+22, UL, VdS  FAQs about the Yuasa NP lead batteryFor which applications is the battery suitable?Preferred areas of application are VdS-compliant fire and intruder alarm systems, emergency and safety lighting, control and signalling systems, measuring instruments, small UPS and buffer applications. How is the battery installed?Mounting is possible in any position except permanently upside down.
