FAQs about Sterillium® hand disinfection
What does "limited virucidal PLUS" mean?
"Limited virucidal" means that the agent is effective against all enveloped viruses (such as corona, influenza and HIV). The addition "PLUS" means that it is also effective against the particularly resistant non-enveloped adeno-, noro- and rotaviruses, which often cause gastroenteritis.
How long does the product need to act?
For standard hygienic hand disinfection, the contact time is 30 seconds. For special applications such as surgical hand disinfection (1.5 minutes) or inactivation of certain viruses, other contact times may apply. Please refer to the manufacturer's specific instructions.
Doesn’t Sterillium® dry out the hands?
No, on the contrary. Sterillium® contains a special care complex with re-fattening substances. When used correctly on dry skin, it cares for the skin and protects it from drying out, even with very frequent use. Washing hands with water and soap removes much more fat from the skin.
Do I need to wash my hands before disinfecting?
No, hand disinfection is generally carried out on dry skin. Prior washing is only necessary if there is visible contamination. In this case, hands must be completely and thoroughly dried before disinfection, as residual moisture can impair the efficacy of the disinfectant.
