FAQs on Suavel Protect surgical masks type IIR
What is the difference between type II and type IIR?
Both mask types offer a high bacterial filtration efficiency of at least 98%. The key difference is the splash protection. The suffix "R" for type IIR stands for "Resistance" and means that the mask is also splash-proof. It therefore also protects the wearer from potentially contaminated liquid splashes, which is particularly important in the medical sector.
What is the difference to an FFP2 mask?
One surgical mask (like this one) primarily serves to protect the environment from droplets from the wearer (external protection). A type IIR mask also offers a certain degree of self-protection against splashes. A FFP2 mask is a particle-filtering respiratory protection mask and primarily serves to protect the wearer from fine aerosols from the ambient air (self-protection). It also fits closer to the face.
How do I put on the mask correctly?
Grasp the mask by the ear straps. The coloured side should be facing outwards and the nose clip facing upwards. Place the mask over your mouth and nose and place the straps around your ears. Then press the nose clip against your nose and pull the mask under your chin so that it is as close to your face as possible.
How long can I wear a surgical mask?
A surgical mask is a disposable product. It should be changed regularly, but at the latest when it is soaked through with breathing air, as this impairs the filter performance. If possible, do not touch the outside of the mask when removing it.
