The Xcell TNEP12-16 is a high-performance, maintenance-free lead-gel battery (VRLA) specially developed for cyclic applications. With a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity of 16 Ah this battery offers a reliable power source for devices that are regularly discharged and recharged. Thanks to modern gel technology, the battery is particularly leak-proof, vibration-resistant and can be operated in any position.

Compared to standard AGM batteries, the TNEP series is characterised by significantly higher cycle stability. This makes it the ideal choice for electric vehicles, rehabilitation equipment and solar-powered off-grid solutions where a constant power output is required over a long period of time.

Installation & safety instructions

  • Charging process
    • Use only chargers with a characteristic curve suitable for lead-gel batteries (IU or IUoU characteristic curve) to avoid gassing.
  • Avoid deep discharge
    • To achieve the maximum number of cycles, the battery should never be fully discharged. Regular recharging after use significantly extends its service life.
  • Storage
    • Store the battery fully charged in a cool, dry place. During prolonged storage, a maintenance charge should be carried out every 6 months.

Can I use this battery as a starter battery in a motorbike?

Only recommended to a limited extent. This battery is a "deep cycle" battery for constant continuous currents. Starter batteries must deliver extremely high currents for a short time. It may work for small scooters, but it is not optimised for larger machines.

What is the advantage of gel over AGM?

Temperature stability and number of cycles. Gel batteries such as the TNEP12-16 cope better with higher ambient temperatures and deeper discharges than standard AGM batteries, which makes them particularly superior in outdoor areas (solar) and electric vehicles.

Is the battery filled ready for dispatch?

Yes, it is ready for immediate use. The battery is sealed and filled at the factory. Before first intensive use, it only needs to be fully charged once in order to calibrate the full capacity.
