Tianneng TNEP 12-16 Lead-Gel Cyclic Battery – 12 V / 16 Ah (16,000 mAh)
Product information
The Tianneng TNEP12-16 is a high-performance, maintenance-free lead-gel battery (VRLA) designed specifically for cyclic applications. With a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity of 16 Ah This battery provides a reliable power source for devices that are regularly discharged and recharged. Thanks to modern gel technology, the battery is particularly leak-proof, vibration-resistant and can be operated in any position.
Compared to standard AGM batteries, the TNEP series is characterised by significantly higher cycle stability. This makes it the ideal choice for electric vehicles, rehabilitation equipment and solar-powered off-grid systems where a constant power output is required over a long period of time.
Key features at a glance
- Maintenance-free gel technology: No need to top up with water; the electrolytes are bound in a special gel, which guarantees maximum safety.
- High cycle stability: Optimised for over 400 to 600 cycles at a 75% depth of discharge, which significantly increases its service life in mobile applications.
- Operation in any position: Thanks to its hermetically sealed design, the battery can be fitted in almost any position without any acid leakage.
- Low self-discharge: High-quality lead-calcium grids ensure that the battery remains ready for use even after prolonged storage.
- Robust ABS housing: The impact-resistant plastic casing protects the internal cells from mechanical damage and vibrations.
- Fast-charging capability: The design allows for efficient energy absorption, thereby minimising downtime during the charging process.
Areas of application
- Electric mobility & leisure
- For use in e-scooters, electric wheelchairs, golf buggies or children’s electric cars.
- Rehabilitation & Medical Technology
- Reliable power supply for stairlifts, patient lifts and mobile medical equipment.
- Solar & wind energy
- Back-up battery for small stand-alone solar power systems, electric fencing units or garden lighting.
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
- As a long-life energy storage solution in backup systems for critical electronic equipment.
Installation & Safety Instructions
- Charging process
- Only use chargers with a charging curve suitable for lead-gel batteries (IU or IUoU curve) to prevent gassing.
- Avoid deep discharge
- To achieve the maximum number of charge cycles, the battery should never be fully discharged. Regular recharging after use significantly extends its service life.
- Storage
- Store the battery fully charged in a cool, dry place. During prolonged storage, a top-up charge should be carried out every 6 months.

FAQs on the TNEP12-16 (12 V / 16 Ah) Tianneng
Can I use this battery as a starter battery on my motorbike?
Only recommended to a limited extent. This battery is a ‘deep-cycle’ battery designed for constant, sustained currents. Starter batteries must deliver extremely high currents for short periods. While it may work for small scooters, it is not optimized for larger vehicles.
What is the advantage of gel over AGM?
Temperature stability and cycle life. Gel batteries such as the TNEP12-16 cope better with higher ambient temperatures and deeper discharges than standard AGM batteries, making them particularly suitable for outdoor applications (solar) and electric vehicles.
Is the battery fully charged ready for dispatch?
Yes, it is ready for immediate use. The battery is sealed and charged at the factory. It simply needs to be fully charged once before its first intensive use in order to calibrate its full capacity.| Capacity: | 16 Ah |
