FAQs about the Beltrona X8-30CS emergency luminaire

What does "for central battery systems" (CS) mean?

The abbreviation CS stands for "Central Supply". This luminaire does not have its own internal battery. It must be connected to a central emergency power supply system (also known as a ZSV system or CPS system) for emergency operation, which supplies all connected luminaires in the building in the event of a power failure.

What is the main advantage of a centrally supplied system?

The main advantage is the significantly reduced maintenance costs. The regular replacement of individual batteries in potentially hundreds of luminaires is completely eliminated. Maintenance and inspection of the energy storage system is carried out at a single, central point. This saves considerable working time and costs.

Can I also use this luminaire as a normal single battery luminaire?

No. This model is designed exclusively for connection to a central emergency power supply and does not have its own electronics for battery operation. It does not work in an emergency without such a system.

How is the luminaire monitored?

The monitoring of the individual luminaire for its function (e.g. LED fault) is usually carried out automatically via the bus system of the central battery system. Faults are reported centrally, making manual on-site inspection unnecessary.

Are the pictograms included in the scope of delivery?

Yes, a set with the three most common directional pictograms (left, right and down arrows) and a blank pictogram is included in the scope of delivery. This enables you to have flexible and standard-compliant signage directly during installation.

BP = Blister Pack (individually packaged for retail sale). 10 (or FP) = Foil Pack / Bulk (10 pieces packed together for industry). The U9VLJP10 is more environmentally friendly (less plastic waste) and usually cheaper per item.Is "round cell" the correct term?Your enquiry mentioned "round cell", which is a common misunderstanding. The U9VL is a 9V block (rectangular, prismatic). Internally, it consists of three flat cells (not round cells), but the design is the classic "E-block". Ultralife also manufactures real round cells (like the ER14505 AA), but the designation U9VL always refers to the 9V block. What happens if I store the batteries?Almost nothing. That is the great advantage of lithium. You can buy this 10-pack, take out 2 batteries and put the remaining 8 in a cupboard for 8 years. If you need the remaining 8 batteries then, they will still have almost 100% of their charge. Store them ideally in a cool, dry place. Are the batteries packed short-circuit-proof?As a rule, the batteries in the pack of 10 are supplied so that the terminals cannot touch each other (e.g. by a plastic cap on each battery or a tightly fitting foil). Important: If you open the pack and put loose batteries in a drawer, be sure to tape the terminals or leave the protective cap on. If two 9V blocks touch at the terminals, a short circuit immediately occurs (fire hazard!).

All batteries are located in one central, easily accessible place. Regular function tests can be automated and logged centrally. This is especially more efficient and often more economical in large buildings than maintaining hundreds of individual batteries in each luminaire. What are different lenses needed for?Different areas within a building require different lighting patterns. An escape route lens produces a long, narrow light corridor to optimally illuminate escape routes. An anti-panic lens produces a wide, square light distribution to evenly illuminate large, open spaces like foyers or halls and to prevent panic. What does "suspension" mean?"Suspension" means that the luminaire is not mounted directly to the ceiling, but is suspended from the ceiling using rods or cables. This is necessary when the structural ceiling is very high (e.g. industrial halls), but the required illumination level at floor level must still be achieved as per standards. How is the luminaire monitored? In a central battery system, each individual luminaire is permanently monitored via the supply line. If a light source fails or there is another fault, this is immediately detected by the central control unit and reported as a malfunction. This ensures high operational reliability of the entire system.
