Yuasa SWL+3000FR Industrial VRLA Battery - 12V / 93,6Ah (Flame Retardant / High Rate)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa SWL+3000FR is the high-end safety variant of the powerful SWL+3000 monobloc. It combines the high capacity of 93.6 Ah with the extreme high-current capability of the SWL+ series and a housing of the highest fire protection class (UL94 V-0).
This 12-volt battery is specially designed for critical large-scale systems (data centres, banks, hospitals), where not only reliability but also structural fire protection is subject to the strictest requirements. The "3000" denotes the enormous power output in watts that this block can provide at short notice.
Highlights at a glance
- FR safety housing (Flame Retardant): The case and lid are made from flame-retardant ABS plastic according to the UL94 V-0 standard. In the event of fire, the material self-extinguishes and prevents burning dripping – a mandatory requirement for insurance coverage in many server rooms.
- SWL+ High Rate Power (3000 Watt): The SWL+ series is optimised for maximum power density. This block delivers up to 40% more energy than standard batteries of the same size. It reliably absorbs the enormous load peaks of modern IT hardware during a power failure.
- Capacity 93.6 Ah: With 93.6 Ah (C10), the battery offers a very high energy density. It is perfect as a powerful upgrade for systems previously equipped with 90Ah batteries.
- Eurobat "Very Long Life": Classified for a service life of 12+ years (Design Life up to 15 years). This guarantees planning security and minimises total cost of ownership (TCO) thanks to long replacement intervals.
- HT Element X technology: The special hybrid alloy of the grid plates minimises internal corrosion and water loss. This makes the battery resistant to ageing, even with years of float charging.
- Maintenance-free & safe: VRLA-AGM technology (Absorbent Glass Mat). The electrolyte is bound in the mat, the battery is leak-proof, low-gassing and requires no topping up of water.
Areas of application
The SWL+3000FR is the standard for safety-critical infrastructures:
- Data centres (Data Center): Maximum power with maximum fire protection.
- UPS systems (UPS): For medium to large systems with high load requirements.
- Emergency lighting: Central battery systems (ZSV) in accordance with EN 50171.
- Telecommunications: Switching centres and critical network nodes.
- Energy suppliers: Control technology and switchgear.
Installation & safety instructions
- Observe weight: With approx. 35 kg this block is very heavy. When fitting battery cabinets, use suitable lifting aids and take the rack's floor load into account.
- Terminal (M8): Due to the high currents (short circuit current >2000A) this block has large M8 terminals. The recommended tightening torque is approx. 6 Nm. Use insulated tools!
- FR requirement: Never mix FR batteries (grey/UL94 V-0) with standard batteries (black/HB) in the same string, as this will invalidate the fire protection certification for the whole system.
- Ventilation: Even with VRLA batteries, ventilation in accordance with EN 50272-2 must be ensured.

FAQs about the Yuasa SWL+3000FR
What is the difference to the normal SWL3000?
Technically (electrically) they are identical. The difference is purely in the case material.
- SWL3000: Standard ABS plastic (burns slowly but burns).
- SWL3000FR: Flame-retardant plastic (UL94 V-0, self-extinguishing). In public buildings and data centres, the FR variant is usually mandatory.
Why does this battery have M8 terminals and not M6?
Above a certain power class (usually from 90Ah or very high discharge currents), the cross-section of M6 bolts is no longer sufficient to safely dissipate the heat generated under high current load. M8 offers a larger contact area and lower transfer resistance.
Is the SWL+3000FR suitable as a replacement for 90Ah batteries?
Yes, as a rule. The dimensions (approx. 305mm length) are an industry standard ("H6" case size similar). You can therefore often replace older 90Ah blocks on a 1:1 basis and benefit from an upgrade to 93.6 Ah as well as a higher power reserve.
