Solar extension cable 8m 6mm² - red/black for reliable PV applications (set)

Description

Product information

The solar extension cable set (8 metres, 6mm²) is the ideal solution for moderate distances within a photovoltaic installation where maximum efficiency and future-proofing are paramount. If you need to bridge gaps between your solar modules or want to connect to an inverter or charge controller, this generous 6mm² cross-section ensures that not a single watt of power is lost, even during peak currents.

The set includes two high-quality, double-insulated solar cables: a red cable for the positive terminal (+) and a black cable for the negative terminal (-). Both ends are professionally pre-assembled with MC4-compatible plugs and sockets. Thanks to the 8-metre length and solid 6mm² cross-section, this set is technically perfectly dimensioned for almost all common PV applications (balcony power plants, stand-alone systems, roof systems).

Highlights at a glance

  • Maximum efficiency: The 6mm² cross-section minimises electrical resistance to an absolute minimum, which is particularly advantageous for high currents (e.g. modern 400W+ modules).
  • Plug & Play installation: The cables come pre-assembled on both sides with MC4-compatible connectors, so no special crimping tool is required.
  • Secure identification: The clear colour coding in red (+) and black (-) effectively prevents incorrect polarity along the entire connection length.
  • Weatherproof & durable: The special jacket made of cross-linked polyolefin is UV-resistant, ozone-resistant and withstands extreme temperatures from -40°C to +90°C.
  • Protection rating IP67: The connectors are completely dustproof and protected against splash water and rain when plugged in.
  • High-quality conductor: Tinned electrolytic copper ensures excellent corrosion resistance and consistently high conductivity.

Areas of application

This 8-metre extension is designed for a wide range of application scenarios:

  • Balcony power plants
    • Perfect to bridge the distance between the solar modules and the inverter if this is mounted offset on the railing, wall or indoors.
  • String cabling
    • Bridging gaps between module fields on pitched roofs, carports or flat roof structures.
  • Motorhomes & camping
    • Connecting the solar modules to the charge controller, so you can park the vehicle flexibly in the shade while the panels are positioned in the sun.

Installation & safety instructions

  • Negligible voltage drop
    • At a length of 8 metres, the 6mm² cross-section provides extremely stable energy transmission. This makes the cable the ideal choice for perfectionists who want to get the maximum yield from their system.
  • Strain relief
    • Secure the cables to the mounting frame with UV-resistant cable ties. Avoid mechanical strain on the plug connections to ensure lasting tightness of the MC4 connectors.
  • Correct locking
    • When connecting, make sure that the MC4 connectors audibly click into place. Only then will the connection be permanently waterproof and safely protected against arcing.

FAQs about the solar extension cable 8m 6mm²

Why should I choose 6mm² instead of 4mm² for 8 metres?

For maximum safety and efficiency. Although 4mm² is often sufficient for 8 metres, 6mm² offers higher mechanical robustness and stays cooler under high loads (many amps). It is a future-proof investment for modern modules with high output currents.

Do the connectors fit modules from all well-known brands?

Yes. These cables use MC4-compatible standard connectors. They fit perfectly mechanically and electrically to the connections of manufacturers such as Trina Solar, Jinko, JA Solar, Longi or Canadian Solar.

Can I leave these cables outdoors?

Yes, that's what they are designed for. The cables are certified to current PV standards. They are resistant to ammonia, ozone and UV radiation and can be used outdoors for decades.

Hoymiles Connection cable BC05 to Schuko (2 m) - For HMS series

The 2 metre Hoymiles BC05 to Schuko connection cable is the compact and safe solution for directly connecting your micro inverter from the Hoymiles HMS series to a nearby socket. This short version avoids unnecessary cable loops and trip hazards on the balcony or terrace when the feed-in socket is located in the immediate vicinity of the inverter. It connects the specific Hoymiles "Field Connector" (BC05) in accordance with standards to the household power supply. The high-quality rubber cable (H07RN-F 3G1.5) guarantees durability and safety, even with direct sunlight or rain in outdoor areas.Highlights at a glancePerfect fit: Specially assembled for Hoymiles micro inverters of the HMS series (e.g. HMS-800W-2T, HMS-1600, HMS-2000) with the typical BC05 connection.Compact length (2 metres): Ideal for installations where the inverter is mounted directly next to the outdoor socket to avoid cable clutter.Easy installation: Directly connects the inverter to a standard Schuko socket without additional adapters via "Plug & Play".High-quality rubber cable: The heavy-duty rubber hose cable of type H07RN-F 3G1.5 mm² is extremely robust, oil-resistant and UV-stable for continuous outdoor use.High degree of protection: The BC05 plug on the inverter side is waterproof (IP68), while the Schuko plug is designed for protected outdoor areas (IP44).Secure connection: Professionally machine-pressed contacts ensure minimal transition resistance and maximum safety for current feed-in up to 16 amps.Areas of applicationThe 2-metre version is perfect for short distances:Balcony power stations: When the outdoor socket is installed directly on the balcony wall next to the modules.Wall mounting: For façade systems where the cable is routed directly through a hole to the socket inside.Garden shed/garage: For direct connection to an existing damp-proof socket inside.Installation & safety notesClicking into place: Make sure that the BC05 plug on the inverter audibly clicks. Only this way is the connection waterproof and tension-resistant.Releasing: To remove the BC05 plug from the inverter again, you need a special disconnect tool. Never pull by force!Extension: Avoid extending this short cable with inferior extension leads or multi-socket outlets. For greater distance, use the 5m or 10m version of this cable instead.Compatibility: This cable does not fit the older HM series (Betteri BC01 connection). The BC05 plug is flatter and more rectangular. Features Model / DesignationHoymiles HMS connection cable (2 m) Connection A (inverter)**Hoymiles BC05** (Field Connector / Female) Connection B (mains side)**Schuko plug** (Type F, IP44/IP65) Cable length**2.0 metres** Cable specification**H07RN-F 3G1.5 mm²** (UV- and weather-resistant) Nominal voltage**230 V AC** Max. current carrying capacity**16 A** Temperature range-30°C to +60°C Degree of protection**IP65** (plug connection) / IP44 (mains plug) FAQs about the Hoymiles BC05 cable (2m)How can I tell if I have an HMS or HM inverter? The HMS series (e.g. HMS-800W-2T) has a smooth, more rectangular connector (BC05) without an outer thread. The older HM series (e.g. HM-600) has a round, wavy Betteri connector (BC01) with a screw thread. This cable is only for HMS.Is 2 metres sufficient? Please measure the route exactly! Keep in mind that the cable often does not run straight from the inverter, but needs to be routed in a curve. 2 metres is very short and provides little leeway. If in doubt, the 5-metre version is often the more flexible option. Is the cable suitable for permanent outdoor use?Yes. The H07RN-F cable material is specially designed and approved for high mechanical stress and weather conditions (rain, snow, UV radiation) in outdoor areas.
