Solar cable red 75m 4mm² IEC62930 – SOLR475 for professional PV projects

Description

Product information

The solar cable SOLR475 (75 metres, 4mm²) in red is a high-quality solution for cabling photovoltaic systems over long distances. With a length of 75 metres, this reel offers maximum flexibility for string cabling on extensive roofs or when connecting module arrays to the inverter in larger buildings. The red colour is used for standard-compliant marking of the positive pole (+), which makes the installation clear and increases safety during installation.

Certified according to the international standard IEC 62930, the SOLR475 fulfils the strictest quality requirements for long-term use under extreme conditions. The combination of a finely stranded, tinned copper conductor and the robust XLPO double insulation ensures efficient energy transmission and protects the cable from environmental influences for decades.

Highlights at a glance

  • Certified industrial quality: Complies with the IEC 62930 standard (H1Z2Z2-K) and is therefore approved for system voltages up to 1500V DC.
  • Optimum project length: 75 metres in one piece enable uninterrupted installation even with complex cable routes without unnecessary coupling points.
  • Secure identification: The red outer sheath ensures clear visual identification of the positive cable in accordance with current installation standards.
  • Maximum resistance: The UV and ozone-resistant XLPO double insulation prevents premature ageing due to solar radiation and weathering.
  • Corrosion-protected conductor: Tinned electrolytic copper guarantees permanently low contact resistance and protects against oxidation, even in damp environments.
  • Extreme temperature range: Safe use from -40°C to +90°C (maximum conductor temperature up to +120°C).

Areas of application

The SOLR475 is the ideal choice for demanding installation scenarios:

  • Larger roof systems
    • Perfect for connecting the solar modules to the inverter if it is installed over several floors or in a remote technical room.
  • Commercial PV projects
    • Ideal for string cabling in larger systems where high reliability and standard-compliant design are required.
  • Island & hybrid systems
    • Used in self-sufficient power supplies for remote buildings or farms.

Assembly & safety instructions

  • Professional assembly
    • Only use high-quality MC4 connectors to complete the cable. Gas-tight crimping with special solar pliers is essential for long-term safety.
  • Protection against mechanical damage
    • Always lay the cable in protective conduits at wall penetrations or sharp roof edges to protect the insulation from mechanical abrasion.
  • Avoidance of cable loops
    • Make sure that the cable is laid in such a way that no large induction loops are created (positive and negative cables should be routed as close together as possible) in order to improve the EMC compatibility of the system.

FAQs about solar cable red 75m 4mm²

Why is 4mm² often sufficient for 75 metres?

Due to the high string voltage. In modern PV systems, modules are often connected in series, which increases the voltage and keeps the current (amperes) relatively low. At high voltages, the percentage power loss with 4mm² is usually very low, even over 75 metres.

Can the cable also be permanently laid outdoors?

Yes. The cable is specially certified for outdoor installation. It is resistant to ammonia (important in agriculture), ozone and intensive UV radiation.

What is the advantage over conventional rubber cables?

The chemical cross-linking of the insulation. The XLPO insulation (cross-linked polyolefin) does not melt in the heat and does not become brittle in winter. It is also flame-retardant and halogen-free, which minimises smoke development in the event of a fire.
