Solar cable black 75m 4mm² IEC62930 – SOLS475 for professional PV projects

Description

Product information

The SOLS475 solar cable (75 metres, 4mm²) in black is the ideal solution for cabling photovoltaic systems over long distances. With a length of 75 metres on the reel, it offers maximum flexibility for string cabling on extensive roofs or when connecting module arrays to the inverter in larger buildings. The black labelling is used for standard-compliant identification of the negative pole (-), which significantly increases safety and clarity during installation.

Manufactured according to the strict international standard IEC 62930, this cable fulfils the highest quality requirements for long-term use in modern PV systems up to 1500V DC. The high-quality XLPO double insulation and the tinned copper conductor guarantee efficient energy transmission and maximum service life, even under demanding environmental conditions.

Highlights at a glance

  • Certified safety: Complies with the IEC 62930 standard (H1Z2Z2-K) for permanent use in photovoltaic direct current systems up to 1500V.
  • High range: 75 metres in one piece allow individual cuts for customised string connections without unnecessary separation points.
  • Clear polarity: The black outer sheath ensures clear labelling of the negative cable and prevents errors during installation.
  • Weatherproof & robust: The UV-resistant and ozone-resistant double insulation protects the cable for decades from embrittlement caused by intensive solar radiation.
  • Corrosion-protected conductor: Tinned electrolytic copper guarantees permanently low contact resistance and effectively protects against oxidation.
  • Wide temperature range: Safe operation under extreme climatic conditions from -40°C to +90°C (short-term peaks up to +120°C).

Areas of application

The SOLS475 is the ideal choice for demanding installation scenarios:

  • Larger roof systems
    • Perfect for connecting the solar modules to the inverter when it is installed over several floors or in a remote technical room.
  • Commercial PV projects
    • Ideal for string cabling in larger systems, where high reliability and standard-compliant implementation are required.
  • Off-grid & hybrid systems
    • Used in self-sufficient power supplies for remote buildings or farms where long cable runs need to be bridged.

Assembly & safety instructions

  • Professional assembly
    • As this cable is sold by the metre, we recommend using high-quality MC4 connectors and a professional crimping tool for solar cables.
  • Avoidance of induction loops
    • Route the black negative conductor as parallel and as close as possible to the red positive conductor to minimise electromagnetic interference fields and the risk of lightning induction.
  • Mechanical protection
    • For penetrations or sharp edges, use protective tubing or cable conduits to guarantee the integrity of the double insulation for the long term.

FAQs about the solar cable black 75m 4mm²

Why is 4mm² often sufficient for 75 metres?

Due to the high string voltage.

  • In modern PV systems, modules are often connected in series, which increases the voltage and keeps the current (amperes) relatively low. At high voltages, the percentage power loss with 4mm² is usually very low, even over 75 metres.

Can the cable be permanently laid outdoors?

Yes.

  • The cable is specially certified for outdoor installation. It is resistant to ammonia (important in agriculture), ozone and intense UV radiation.

What is the advantage over conventional rubber cables?

The chemical cross-linking of the insulation.

  • The XLPO insulation (cross-linked polyolefin) does not melt in the heat and does not become brittle in winter. It is also flame retardant and halogen-free, which increases safety in buildings in the event of fire.
