Optima YellowTop YT S 5.5 AGM lead-acid battery 12V 75Ah

Description

Product information

The OPTIMA YellowTop YT S 5.5 is a revolutionary high-performance AGM battery that combines the maximum starting power of a starter battery with the cycle stability of a supply battery thanks to the patented SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. With a nominal voltage of 12 V, a very high capacity of 75 Ah and an extreme cold start current, it is the ultimate solution for the most demanding vehicles with enormous energy needs, such as construction vehicles, lorries or heavily modified off-road vehicles.

Highlights at a glance

  • Dual-purpose functionality: Maximum starting power and excellent cycle stability in a single battery.
  • SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®: Unique spiral cell construction for extreme vibration resistance and a longer service life.
  • High cycle stability: Ideal for vehicles with many electrical consumers and for repeated deep discharges.
  • Absolutely maintenance-free and leak-proof: The sealed AGM construction allows installation in almost any position.
  • Fast recharging: Absorbs charge significantly faster than conventional batteries.

Maximum performance for demanding vehicles

The OPTIMA YellowTop YT S 5.5 was specifically developed for the most extreme requirements of modern vehicles, which go far beyond mere starting. It is the ideal choice for vehicles with complex sound systems, auxiliary headlights, winches, hydraulic systems and other energy-intensive consumers. Even in vehicles with seasonal use, in demanding short-distance operation or in construction vehicles, the YellowTop demonstrates its superior performance and longevity.

Superior SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®

At the heart of every OPTIMA battery is the unique SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. Instead of flat lead plates, high-purity lead spirals are used, which are wrapped with a glass fibre separator (AGM). This compact and extremely stable design minimises internal resistance, resulting in outstanding starting power, faster recharging, and unsurpassed vibration resistance. This technology makes the YellowTop the perfect hybrid solution for starting and supply.

Built for the most demanding conditions

The OPTIMA YellowTop is designed for hard use. Its sealed design not only prevents acid leakage, but also evaporation, making it absolutely maintenance-free. The robust construction of impact-resistant polypropylene and up to 15 times greater vibration resistance compared to conventional batteries ensure that vibrations and shocks in demanding driving conditions cannot affect the battery.

FAQs about the OPTIMA YellowTop battery

What is the main advantage of SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®?

The spiral cell technology provides an extremely robust and vibration-resistant internal structure, very low internal resistance for high starting currents, as well as excellent cycle stability. It combines the advantages of a starter battery with those of a deep-cycle battery in a single product.

What is the difference between OPTIMA YellowTop and RedTop?

YellowTop: A dual-purpose battery (starting and supply). It is ideal for vehicles with high energy demands from additional consumers (e.g. winches, large hi-fi systems), as it can withstand deep discharges. RedTop: A pure high-performance starter battery for maximum starting power. It is the right choice if the starting process is the main load and there are no deep discharge cycles.

Is this battery suitable for vehicles with automatic start-stop?

Although the YellowTop is very cycle-resistant, it was not specifically designed for the requirements of modern start-stop systems. For vehicles with start-stop technology, batteries with EFB or AGM technology in standard design, which are explicitly designed for this purpose, are recommended.

Which charger do I need for this AGM battery?

For AGM batteries, especially for OPTIMA batteries, a modern, microprocessor-controlled charger is recommended, which has a special charge curve for AGM batteries. This ensures a complete and gentle charge and maximises service life.

How should this lead-acid battery be disposed of?

Lead-acid batteries contain environmentally harmful substances and must not be disposed of in household waste. You can return your old battery free of charge to any retailer who sells new batteries or to local recycling centres to ensure proper disposal.
