Maximum performance for demanding vehicles
The OPTIMA RedTop RT S 4.2 was specifically developed for the extreme requirements of high-performance vehicles whose main requirement is a powerful starting impulse. It is the ideal choice for trucks, SUVs, hot rods, classic cars and construction vehicles. Even with seasonal use or longer downtimes, it reliably provides the necessary power to effortlessly start large engines. Its compact design and high power density also make it the perfect solution for vehicles with limited installation space.
Superior SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®
At the core of every OPTIMA battery is the unique SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. Instead of flat lead plates, high-purity lead spirals are used, wrapped in a glass fibre mat (AGM). This compact and extremely stable design minimises plate spacing, maximises the active surface and reduces internal resistance. The result is unsurpassed starting performance that can be delivered consistently even under the toughest conditions.
Built for the most demanding conditions
The OPTIMA RedTop is designed for tough use. Its sealed construction not only prevents acid leakage, but also evaporation, making it completely maintenance-free. The robust design made from impact-resistant polypropylene and the extreme vibration resistance ensure that vibrations and shocks during demanding driving have no effect on the battery.

FAQs about the OPTIMA RedTop battery
What is the main advantage of SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®?
The spiral cell technology ensures an extremely robust and vibration-resistant internal structure, a very low internal resistance for maximum starting currents and a longer lifespan compared to conventional batteries with flat plates. It is optimised for maximum starting performance.
What is the difference between OPTIMA RedTop, YellowTop and BlueTop?
RedTop: A pure high-performance starter battery for maximum starting power. Ideal for vehicles where starting is the main load. YellowTop: A dual-purpose battery (starting and supply) for vehicles with high energy needs due to additional consumers (e.g. winch, large hi-fi systems). BlueTop: Specialist for marine and leisure vehicles, available as a pure starter battery or as a dual-purpose battery.
Is this battery suitable for vehicles with many electrical consumers?
The RedTop is primarily a starter battery. If your vehicle, in addition to starting, also has extensive equipment such as powerful hi-fi systems, additional spotlights or a winch that are used when stationary, an OPTIMA YellowTop or BlueTop (dual purpose) is the better choice as they are designed for deep discharge cycles.
Which charger do I need for this AGM battery?
For AGM batteries, especially for OPTIMA batteries, a modern, microprocessor-controlled charger is recommended that has a special charging curve for AGM batteries. This ensures complete and gentle charging and maximises service life.
How should this lead-acid battery be disposed of?
Lead-acid batteries contain harmful substances and must not be disposed of with household waste. You can return your old battery free of charge to any retailer who sells new batteries or to municipal recycling centres to ensure proper recycling.
