Optima RedTop RT S 2.1 AGM lead-acid battery 6V 50Ah
Description
Product information
The OPTIMA RedTop RT S 2.1 is a revolutionary 6-volt high-performance starter battery that, thanks to patented SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®, delivers maximum starting power in a compact and extremely rugged case. With a nominal voltage of 6 V and an enormous cold cranking current of 800 A for this class, it is the ultimate solution for classic vehicles and demanding applications that require a reliable and powerful 6-volt energy source. Its extreme vibration resistance and absolutely maintenance-free, leakproof design make it the first choice for classic cars, hot rods and tractors.
Highlights at a glance
- Maximum 6V starting power: Offers the highest possible starting performance for reliable engine starts, even in large-displacement 6-volt engines.
- SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®: Unique spiral cell construction for extreme vibration resistance and a longer service life.
- Extreme vibration resistance: Up to 15 times more vibration-resistant than conventional batteries, ideal for use in older vehicles without modern suspension.
- Absolutely maintenance-free and leakproof: The sealed AGM construction allows installation in almost any position and prevents paint damage caused by acid leakage.
- Long service life: Lasts up to three times longer than a conventional 6-volt starter battery.
Maximum performance for classic vehicles
The OPTIMA RedTop RT S 2.1 was specifically developed to bring the performance and reliability of modern technology to classic 6-volt vehicles. It is the ideal choice for classic cars, classic vehicles, hot rods and historic agricultural vehicles, which often have engines that are difficult to start. Even after longer periods of inactivity, as is typical for collector's vehicles, it reliably supplies the necessary power for an effortless start.
Superior SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®
At the heart of every OPTIMA battery is the unique SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY®. Instead of flat lead plates, high-purity lead spirals are used, wrapped in glass fiber fleece (AGM). This compact and extremely stable design minimizes plate spacing, maximizes active surface area and reduces internal resistance. The result is unrivaled starting performance that can be consistently delivered even under the harshest conditions.
Built for the most demanding conditions
The OPTIMA RedTop is designed for tough use. Its sealed construction not only prevents acid leakage, which is especially important in valuable classics, but also evaporation, making it absolutely maintenance-free. The rugged construction made of impact-resistant polypropylene and the extreme vibration resistance ensure that vibrations and shocks cannot harm the battery.

FAQs about the OPTIMA RedTop 6V battery
What is the main advantage of SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY® in a classic car?
In classic vehicles, spiral cell technology offers two decisive advantages: first, extreme vibration resistance, which is of great benefit in older chassis. Secondly, it is absolutely leakproof, which protects valuable paint and body parts from acid damage, a common problem with old wet batteries.
What is the difference between OPTIMA RedTop, YellowTop and BlueTop?
RedTop: A pure high-performance starter battery for maximum starting power. Ideal for vehicles where starting is the main load. YellowTop: A 12-volt dual-purpose battery (starting and supplying) for vehicles with high energy requirements due to additional consumers. BlueTop: A 12-volt special battery for marine and leisure vehicles.
Do I need a special charger for this 6V AGM battery?
Yes, it is very important to use a modern, microprocessor-controlled charger that is suitable for both 6 volts and AGM technology. Old, unregulated 6-volt chargers can damage the battery due to overvoltage.
Can this battery be deeply discharged?
The RedTop is designed as a pure starter battery and should not be deeply discharged, as this can shorten its service life. For applications where power is regularly required for consumers at a standstill (e.g. a music system), a YellowTop or BlueTop battery (which are only available in 12V) would be the right choice.
How should this lead-acid battery be disposed of?
Lead-acid batteries contain environmentally harmful substances and must not be disposed of in household waste. You can return your old battery free of charge to any retailer selling new batteries or municipal recycling centers to ensure proper recycling.
