The Olight Strip is a 5 metre long RGB LED strip, specially developed for atmospheric ambient lighting and conveniently controlled via smartphone app. Since it is powered via a simple USB connection, it is extremely flexible in use – from gaming setups to tents.

Highlights at a glance

App control (Bluetooth): Via the Olight App, the strip can be conveniently controlled. You can choose from 66 preset scenes (e.g. "Party mode", "Reading", "Night") or create your own colour effects.
Music synchronisation: Thanks to an integrated microphone (or via the phone), the strip can pulse in time to the music. Ideal for parties or as dynamic background lighting for gaming.
USB-powered (5V): The strip does not require a bulky power supply unit. It is simply connected to a USB-A port (e.g. power bank, PC, TV or mobile phone charger). With a consumption of only 5 watts, it is very economical.
Smart timer function: In the app, you can set countdowns or schedules so that the light wakes you up in the morning or switches itself off in the evening.
Simple installation: There is a strong adhesive strip (3M) on the back, which can be used to fix the Ostrip to walls, under cabinets or behind the TV. Mounting clips are also included.
Flexible & shortenable: The strip is flexible and can be placed around corners. It can theoretically be shortened at marked points (Caution: cut parts no longer work without their own controller).

The Ostrip is not a replacement for a bright ceiling lamp, but a mood light. With around 150 lumens (RGB), it is not extremely bright, but it is glare-free and perfect for setting colourful accents. Since it can be powered by a power bank, it is also a hot tip for camping fans who want to illuminate their tent or pavilion.

FAQs about the Olight Ostrip

Do I absolutely need the app?

No, not absolutely. There is a small controller with 3 buttons on the cable. This allows you to switch the strip on/off, change the brightness and cycle through some basic modes. For full functionality (precise colour selection, timer, music scenes), however, the app is necessary.

Can I extend the strip?

No. The Ostrip is a closed system. You cannot simply plug a second strip onto the end, as the power supply via USB (5 watts) would not be sufficient for this.

Is it bright enough as an under-cabinet kitchen light?

Rather not as a work light. With 150 lumens over 5 metres, the light is more decorative ("dim light"). For chopping vegetables you need much more brightness and especially pure white light. The Ostrip is more for colourful accents (RGB).

Does it work with Alexa or Google Home?

In the basic version usually no. The Ostrip connects directly to the phone via Bluetooth. It does not have a Wi-Fi module. To make it theoretically smart, you would need a specific Olight gateway (Olight Hub), but “out of the box” it is a pure Bluetooth control.
