Mascot Li-Ion charger 3546LI 16.8V 1.8A (4 cells)
Description
Product information
The Mascot 3546LI (16.8V) is a compact and powerful charger from the proven "Blueline" series, specially designed for 4-cell lithium-ion battery packs (4S, nominal voltage 14.4V/14.8V). With a charging current of 1.8 amps and precise voltage regulation, it guarantees a safe and efficient full charge. Thanks to the medical approval (EN 60601-1 3rd edition) and the universal input voltage, this device is the perfect solution for medical applications and high-quality mobile devices used worldwide.
Highlights at a glance
- Specialised for 4S Li-Ion: The charging characteristic is precisely fixed to a final charge voltage of 16.8V, which is crucial for the safe operation of 4-cell lithium batteries.
- Intelligent charge control: Operates with a process-controlled 3-stage method (CC-CV cut-off) including current monitoring to reliably prevent overcharging.
- Medical certification: Meets the high safety standards of EN 60601-1 (3.1 Ed) as well as EMC requirements for use in close proximity to patients.
- Universal input: The wide-range input (90-264 VAC) enables worldwide use; plugs or cables are often interchangeable (swap-clip system or C8 socket).
- High efficiency: State-of-the-art switch-mode power supply technology ensures low heat generation and low energy consumption.
- Comprehensive protection: The electronics are protected against short circuit, reverse polarity and overheating and detect faulty batteries.
Precise charging technology for 4-cell packs
The Mascot 3546LI uses a charging process tailored to lithium chemistry to maximise the cycle life of your battery:
- Constant current (CC): The battery is charged with 1.8A (LED orange/yellow) until the voltage of 16.8V is reached.
- Constant voltage (CV): The voltage is held steady at 16.8V. The current decreases as the cells become saturated (LED often flashes yellow).
- End of charge (Charge Complete): If the charging current falls below a defined threshold, the device switches off the charging current (LED green). This prevents the "trickle charge" effect, which can be damaging for Li-Ion batteries. If the battery voltage later drops, the device automatically starts a new cycle.
Ideal for medical and industrial use
Thanks to its certifications and compact design, this charger is ideal for portable medical devices (e.g. infusion pumps, mobile monitors), professional LED lighting systems or industrial handheld scanners powered by 14.4V/14.8V Li-Ion batteries.

FAQs about the Mascot 3546LI 16.8V charger
What does "4S" or "4 cells" mean?
"4S" stands for 4 lithium cells connected in series. Each cell has a final charge voltage of 4.2V. Multiplying this by 4 gives a total voltage of 16.8V, to which this charger is set.
Can I use it to charge lead-acid batteries?
No, under no circumstances. The charge curve and especially the cut-off voltage are specific for lithium-ion batteries. Attempting to charge lead-acid batteries may damage the battery and lead to dangerous situations.
When is the battery fully charged?
The battery is fully charged when the LED indicator lights green permanently. The device then switches off the charging current. You can now remove the battery or leave it connected (the device monitors the voltage in standby mode).
What connectors are available?
The 3546 model often offers interchangeable DC connectors (snap-lock or barrel connector system). The mains cable also is often modular (either as a swap-clip directly for the wall socket or as a desktop device with socket for a mains cable). Please check the details of your specific variant.
