Mascot Lead-acid battery charger 9740-36 36V 3.3A

Description

Product information

The Mascot 9740-36 is a powerful and safe desktop charger for 36V lead-acid battery systems. With a charging current of 3.3 amps and the proven 3-stage charging characteristic, it ensures reliable charging. The combination of medical certification (EN 60601-1) and protection class IP21 makes this device the ideal solution for professional use in medical technology, rehab technology, as well as in industrial applications that are operated on stable 230V networks.

Highlights at a glance

  • Intelligent 3-stage charging: The fully automatic charging cycle (I-U-U) with timer control ensures a gentle full charge that maximizes battery life.
  • Medical approval: Meets the strict safety requirements of EN 60601-1 (3rd edition) standard for safe use in patient environments.
  • Reliable performance: With a charging current of 3.3 amps, the device provides a stable power supply for 36V systems.
  • Dedicated input: Designed for an input voltage range of 198 - 264 VAC, specially optimized for European 230V networks.
  • Solid protection (IP21): The enclosure is protected against solid foreign objects (>12mm) and vertically falling dripping water.
  • Clear status display: A 3-colour LED indicator (orange/yellow/green) intuitively indicates the current charging progress.

Precise charging technology for 36V systems

The Mascot 9740 uses a highly developed 3-stage charging process. In the first phase (cycle), the device charges at a constant current of 3.3A until the charging voltage of approx. 44.1V is reached. This is followed by a timer-controlled phase in which the voltage is kept constant to ensure full cell saturation. To finish, the charger switches to maintenance charging (float at approx. 41.1V), so the battery remains permanently ready for use without being overcharged.

Ideal for medical and demanding applications

This model is ideally suited for powering 36V applications, which are frequently found in rehab technology (e.g. power wheelchairs, scooters) or in mobile medical devices. The robust design and adherence to medical standards ensure safe operation even in sensitive environments.

FAQs about the Mascot 9740-36 charger

What does the input voltage range 198-264V mean?

This range indicates that the charger is specially designed for 230V networks (as common in Europe). It is not suitable for worldwide use on 110V networks (e.g. USA), which often allows for a more robust design of components for the target market.

Can I leave the charger permanently connected to the battery?

Yes, the Mascot 9740 is designed for continuous operation. After the main charge is complete, it automatically switches to maintenance charging (float), which compensates for natural self-discharge and gently keeps the battery at 100%.

What battery capacities is it suitable for?

With a charging current of 3.3 amps, this device is ideal for 36V batteries with a capacity of approx. 15 Ah to 80 Ah. Charging is possible for larger capacities, but it will take correspondingly longer.

What do the LED colours mean?

  • Orange: Main charge with maximum current (battery is charging).
  • Yellow: Timer phase with constant voltage (saturation phase, battery almost full)
  • Green: Maintenance charging (charging process completed, battery is full).
