Mascot Lead-acid battery charger 2840-24 24V 4.5A

Description

Product information

The Mascot 2840-24 is a powerful and reliable desktop charger for 24V lead-acid battery systems. With a charging current of 4.5 amps and the proven 3-stage charging characteristic, it ensures fast and gentle charging. The combination of medical certification (EN 60601-1) and protection class IP41 makes this device the first choice for demanding applications in medical technology, care, and industry, where safety and durability are crucial.

Highlights at a glance

  • Intelligent 3-stage charging: The fully automatic charging cycle with timer control guarantees optimum saturation of the battery and extends its service life.
  • Medical approval: Meets the strict safety requirements of the EN 60601-1 standard (3rd edition) for use in the direct patient environment.
  • Flexible plug system (DC-X): Equipped with the Snap-Lock coupling, which allows different output plugs (e.g. XLR, hollow plug) to be changed easily and without tools.
  • High performance: With 4.5 amps charging current, it offers an ideal balance between charging speed and battery protection for medium to large capacities.
  • Universal input: Thanks to the wide range input (90-264 VAC) and exchangeable mains cable (IEC C8), the device can be used worldwide.
  • Increased protection (IP41): The robust housing reliably protects the electronics from solid foreign objects (>1mm) and vertically falling drip water.
  • Clear status display: A 3-colour LED display (orange/yellow/green) always provides intuitive information about the current charging status.

Precise charging technology for 24V systems

The Mascot 2840 uses a specially tuned 3-stage charging process (3-Step Charge). In the first phase (Cycle), the device charges with a constant current of 4.5A until the charging voltage of 29.4V is reached. This is followed by a timer-controlled phase in which the voltage is kept constant in order to fully saturate the cells. Finally, the charger switches to float charge (Float at 27.4V), which keeps the battery permanently at 100% capacity without damage.

Ideal for medical and demanding applications

This model has been specially designed for professional use. It is the perfect power supply for electric wheelchairs, scooters, mobile care trolleys or patient hoists that are operated with 24V systems. The certification according to medical standards ensures maximum safety even in sensitive areas.

FAQs about the Mascot 2840-24 charger

What does DC-X mean?

DC-X stands for the flexible output cable system with a Snap-Lock coupling. Instead of a permanently attached plug, a variety of adapters (such as the commonly used 3-pin XLR plug in rehab technology, but also crocodile clips or hollow plugs) can simply be plugged in.

Can I leave the charger permanently on the battery?

Yes, the Mascot 2840 is designed for continuous operation. After the main charge is complete, it automatically switches to float charge mode (Float, 27.4V), which compensates for natural self-discharge and keeps the battery ready for use.

For which battery capacities is it suitable?

With a charging current of 4.5 amps, this device is ideal for 24V batteries with a capacity between approx. 20 Ah and 120 Ah. It can also charge larger batteries, although the charging time accordingly increases.

What do the LED colours mean?

  • Orange: Main charge with maximum current (battery is charging).
  • Yellow: Timer phase with constant voltage (saturation phase, battery almost full)
  • Green: Float charge (charging process complete, battery full).
