Highlights at a glance
- Intelligent 3-stage charging: The fully automatic charging cycle with timer control ensures gentle fast charging and maximum battery life.
- Medical approval: Certified to EN 60601-1 (3rd edition) for safe operation in medical environments and in the vicinity of patients.
- Flexible plug system (DC-X): Equipped with the practical Snap-Lock coupling for tool-free changing of various output plugs (e.g. XLR, terminals).
- Powerful: With a charging current of 8.5 amps, it offers sufficient reserves for larger batteries and shorter charging times.
- Universal input: Can be used worldwide thanks to its wide-range input (90-264 VAC) and interchangeable mains cable (IEC C8).
- Increased protection (IP41): The housing is protected against solid foreign bodies (>1mm) and vertically falling dripping water.
- Clear status display: The 3-colour LED display (orange/yellow/green) provides information about the charging status at a glance.
Precise charging technology for 12V systems
The Mascot 2840 utilises an efficient 3-stage charging process (3-Step Charge). In the first phase (cycle), the device charges with a constant current of 8.5A until the final charging voltage of 14.7V is reached. This is followed by a timer-controlled phase with constant voltage to ensure complete saturation of the battery chemistry. Finally, the device switches to trickle charging (float at 13.7V) to keep the battery fully charged and ready for use.
Ideal for medical and demanding applications
This charger has been developed for applications that require high performance and reliability. It is perfect for power wheelchairs, larger patient lifts, scooters or industrial cleaning machines. The combination of high charging power, medical certification and IP41 protection class makes it a versatile solution for critical systems.

FAQs about the Mascot 2840-12 charger
What does DC-X mean?
DC-X refers to the flexible output cable system with a snap-lock coupling. Instead of a permanently installed plug, various adapters (such as 3-pin XLR for wheelchairs, hollow plugs or crocodile clips) can simply be plugged in without the need for soldering.
Can I leave the charger permanently connected to the battery?
Yes, the Mascot 2840 is designed for continuous operation. As soon as the charging process is complete, the device switches to trickle charge mode (float, 13.7V). This equalises self-discharge and keeps the battery fresh without placing it under thermal stress.
For which battery capacities is it suitable?
Thanks to the high charging current of 8.5 amps, this device is ideal for 12V batteries with a capacity of between approx. 40 Ah and 200 Ah. Very small batteries (under 20 Ah) should be charged with a weaker charger to protect the cells.
What do the LED colours mean?
- Orange: Main charge with maximum current (battery is charged quickly).
- Yellow: Timer phase with constant voltage (saturation phase).
- Green: Trickle charge (battery is full and can be removed or left connected).
