Growatt APX 98034-P2 BMS – Intelligent battery management system for APX battery storage systems
Description
Product information
The Growatt APX 98034-P2 is the central control unit (BMS) for the innovative high-voltage storage system of the APX series. This BMS is specially designed for coupling with the inverters of the MOD-XH(BP) and MID-XH series. It forms the interface between the inverter and the battery modules and ensures safe, efficient, and long-lasting operation of your energy storage system.
Thanks to the advanced technology of the APX system, this BMS enables the parallel connection of battery modules with different states of charge or even different ages, offering maximum flexibility for system expansions.
Highlights at a glance
- High compatibility: Perfectly matched to Growatt MOD 3-10KTL3-XH(BP) and MID 11-30KTL3-XH inverters for seamless system integration.
- Modular scalability: Supports the connection of 1 to 6 battery modules (APX 5.0P-B1), allowing capacities of 5 kWh up to 30 kWh per tower to be achieved.
- Active energy optimisation: Enables the use of the full energy of each module, even if these have different ageing or capacities.
- Simple installation: Thanks to the stackable design and plug-and-play cabling, the system can be quickly put into operation without complex configuration.
- Comprehensive protection functions: Integrated protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short-circuit and extreme temperatures.
- Future-proof technology: The fanless design ensures silent operation and minimises maintenance effort throughout the entire service life.
Areas of application
The APX 98034-P2 BMS is the centerpiece for modern photovoltaic storage systems:
- Self-consumption optimisation for households
- In combination with the MOD-XH series, ideal for single-family houses to efficiently store the electricity generated during the day for use at night.
- Commercial PV systems
- Together with the MID-XH series, larger storage capacities of up to 30 kWh per BMS can be achieved to cap peak loads or maximise self-consumption in operation.
- System expansions
- Ideal for users who want to start small and add modules later, because the BMS individually equalises the charge state of the modules.
Assembly & safety instructions
- Correct stacking
- The BMS always forms the top unit of the battery tower. Make sure that the base is stable and level before stacking the modules and the BMS.
- Communication cabling
- Only use the original Growatt communication cables to the inverter to ensure flawless data transmission and correct detection of the battery parameters.
- Ambient conditions
- Ensure installation in a well-ventilated area. Although the system is IP66 certified, a location protected from direct sunlight will extend the electronics' lifespan.

FAQs about the Growatt APX 98034-P2 BMS
Can I mix old and new APX battery modules?
Yes. The APX system features integrated module-level optimisation technology. The BMS detects the different module states and controls the energy flow so that the weaker module does not slow down the system.
Do I absolutely need this BMS for the MOD-XH series?
Yes, if you are using APX batteries. For the APX high-voltage storage series, this specific BMS is the necessary control unit. Older battery series (such as the ARK series) require a different BMS (HVC 60050-A1).
Is the system suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. Thanks to the IP66 protection class, the BMS and battery modules are protected against powerful water jets and dust. Outdoor installation is therefore possible, ideally in a weather-protected location.Reviews 0
