Does the inverter meet all standards required in Germany and will my grid operator accept it without additional equipment?

Yes, the Deye SUN-14K fully meets the VDE-AR-N 4105 standard. A separate NA protection device is therefore not required. A current certificate from 2024 also confirms conformity with the FNN transitional solution. International grid codes such as G99 (UK), CEI 0-21 (IT) and EN 50549 (EU) are also covered.

Which 48 V batteries is the inverter compatible with and what charge/discharge currents are possible?

The SUN-14K is compatible with many common 48 V LiFePO₄ batteries. Deye provides a regularly updated compatibility list with RS485/CAN profiles and dip switch information. The permissible voltage range is 40–60 V DC. According to the manufacturer, charging and discharging currents of up to 260 A are possible – ideal for high-performance low-voltage storage.

How large can/should my PV generator power be for the 14 kW inverter to work optimally?

The device allows up to 28 kW DC input, i.e. about 200% oversizing. For east/west roofs with approx. 15 kWp, experts recommend a DC/AC ratio of about 1.07. This makes the SUN-14K the ideal choice for PV fields between 15 and 20 kWp.

How loud is the operation?

The noise level is ≤ 55 dB (A), comparable to a quiet dishwasher. The fans only start at higher temperatures (~50 °C).

Does the inverter support three-phase emergency power supply, import limiting, and remote maintenance?

Yes, the SM2 series from Deye offers true three-phase backup operation. Firmware updates, monitoring, and remote maintenance are possible via app or web portal. A factory import limit of 20 W is set – zero feed-in strategies can be implemented via Modbus. The WiFi, RS485, and CAN interfaces enable integration into systems such as Solar-Assistant or ioBroker.
