Can the system be expanded to 25–30 kWh at a later date?

Yes, up to six modules are possible per tower, resulting in a maximum capacity of 30.7 kWh per stack. By paralleling up to six towers, the system can be flexibly expanded to a total capacity of over 180 kWh.

How much energy is actually available?

A system with four modules offers 20.48 kWh gross capacity. At a recommended depth of discharge of 90 %, around 18.4 kWh of usable energy is available, ideal for demanding self-consumption and backup applications.

Which inverters are compatible with the “Plug-&-Play” system?

The storage is fully tuned to three-phase Deye hybrid inverters of the SUN-xK-HP3 and SUN-xK-BM series. The connection is made without additional configuration. All relevant communication protocols are integrated at the factory.

Do I need active cooling?

No, the system uses purely passive convection for heat dissipation. According to the manual, only free airflow behind the housing is required to ensure reliable heat dissipation. Fans or external cooling systems are not necessary.

Does the battery need to be fully charged before first use?

Yes, the system should be charged once to 100 % before commissioning. This initial charge ensures that the state of charge (SoC) is correctly recognised and prevents incorrect displays or abrupt SoC jumps during operation.

System composition

  • This product is a set and consists of five separate main components, which together make a 20.48 kWh tower system.

Component 1: Deye AI-W5.1-B-BMS (control unit & base)

  • The central control unit (BMS cluster), which manages the entire system. This unit forms the base of the battery tower.

Components 2, 3, 4 & 5: Four Deye AI-W5.1-BATT battery modules (5.12 kWh each)

  • Four pure battery modules each with 5.12 kWh, which are stacked onto the BMS unit and each other.

1 x set of battery connection cables (plus & minus)

  • A pair of high performance cables to connect the BMS unit to an external hybrid inverter.

1 x communication cable (CAN/RS485)

  • A data cable for communication between the BMS and the inverter.

3 x connection bridge / parallel connection cable

  • Short, robust cables or solid bridges to connect the four battery modules with each other.

1 x earthing cable

  • A protective earth cable for the proper earthing of the BMS unit.

1 x mounting accessories (tower mounting)

  • Includes screws or locking elements to securely connect the five components to a tower.

1 x operating and installation manual
