Solar extension cable 2m 4mm² - red/black for solar systems (set)
Description
Product information
This solar extension cable set (2 metres, 4mm²) is the ideal solution for short bridging in your photovoltaic system. When installing balcony power stations or when connecting solar modules in series, you are often only a few metres short of being able to lay the cables tension-free. With this 2 metre set, you solve the problem professionally and safely.
The set consists of two high-quality, double insulated solar cables: A red cable for the positive terminal (+) and a black cable for the negative terminal (-). Both ends are already pre-assembled with MC4-compatible plugs and sockets ("Plug & Play"). The 4mm² cross-section made of tinned copper ensures absolutely loss-free current transmission over this short distance. The jacket is extremely resistant to UV radiation, heat, cold and moisture.
Highlights at a glance
- Perfect short solution: 2 metres in length is ideal for connecting modules together (string) or for slightly extending the cable run to the inverter.
- Plug & Play: No pliers required – the cables are pre-assembled on both sides with MC4-compatible plugs and sockets.
- Safety colour code: The combination of red (+) and black (-) prevents dangerous polarity reversal and makes maintenance easier.
- Loss-free: At only 2 metres in length, the voltage drop with a 4mm² cross-section is virtually unmeasurable (almost 0%).
- Weatherproof (IP67): The connections are dustproof and waterproof, the insulation withstands extreme temperatures (-40°C to +90°C).
- Durable: Halogen-free, UV and ozone-resistant sheath for a service life of over 25 years outdoors.
Areas of application
The 2 metre extension is a classic "problem solver" cable:
- Series connection (strings): To connect two solar modules that are not directly next to each other (e.g. due to a skylight or chimney in between).
- Balcony power stations: If the factory-fitted cables on the module are too short to conveniently reach the micro-inverter behind the frame.
- Camping & boat: Flexible connector for portable solar suitcases or panels on the motorhome roof.
- Charge controller connection: Connection from the roof duct to the nearby charge controller inside.
Assembly & safety instructions
- Plug connection: Always push plug and socket together as far as they will go, until you hear a clear "click". This is the only way to ensure tightness (IP67).
- Bend radius: Even with short cables: Do not kink the cable directly at the plug housing. Allow about 3-5 cm of straight run for the cable.
- Mounting: Do not leave the cable loose in the wind ("knocking" on the roof). Secure it to the module frame or substructure with UV-resistant cable ties.
- Disconnect: Never disconnect the plugs under load (during operation). Always first switch off the load/inverter.

FAQs about the solar extension cable 2m
Do I necessarily need 4mm² for 2 metres, or is thinner also possible?
4mm² is the standard and ideal. Thinner cables (e.g. 2.5mm²) are mechanically less robust and the plugs are often less secure. 4mm² is the optimal compromise between flexibility and conductivity. A 6mm² cable would be unnecessarily expensive and stiff for this short length.
Will the plugs fit my Hoymiles/Deye inverter?
Yes. The microinverters from Hoymiles, Deye, NEP etc. have standardised MC4 connections (or compatible BC01/TS4). These extension cables fit mechanically exactly in between.
Can I connect two of these cables in series to make 4 metres?
Yes, no problem. Thanks to the plug-socket principle, you can plug several cables together ("daisy-chaining"). Just bear in mind that each connection point can be a potential source of moisture – a continuous 4m or 5m cable would be more elegant, but technically 2x 2m works too.Properties
