Batterytester Smart Adapter for Bosch Active / Performance Line 36V
Description
Product information
This Smart Adapter is the professional interface to connect your battery tester to the widely used Bosch e-bike batteries of the Active and Performance Line (36V). As modern Bosch batteries (Gen 2, 3 and 4) have a complex battery management system, they do not emit any voltage at the contacts without a specific communication signal. This adapter simulates the electronics of the e-bike, wakes the battery from "sleep mode" and thus enables precise diagnostics, capacity measurement and condition assessment (SoH).
Highlights at a glance
- Wide compatibility: Supports all Bosch 36V batteries with the standard oval connector, including Active Line, Performance Line, Performance CX and Cargo Line (Generation 2, 3 and 4).
- BMS activation: Takes over the necessary digital "handshake" with the battery to trigger the battery management system (BMS) to release the discharge current.
- Precise connection: Features the original oval Bosch system connector for a mechanically safe and polarity reversal-free connection to frame, rack and PowerTube batteries.
- Professional diagnosis: Enables dealers and workshops to create valid test reports for leasing returns, warranty claims or used bike sales.
- Robust workshop quality: High-quality cables and strain-relieved connectors guarantee reliability in daily, intensive service use.
- Plug & Play: Easy to use without manual configuration – connect the adapter, and communication starts automatically.
Precise analysis for the Bosch E-Bike System 2 (BES2)
Bosch batteries are the market standard in the e-bike sector. The Smart Adapter is essential for maintaining them safely. It bypasses the battery's safety cut-out, which normally prevents voltage from being applied when the battery is not in the bike. With this adapter, your test device can simulate a realistic riding load and thus detect weak points in the cell pack that a simple voltage measurement would overlook.
Ideal for PowerPack and PowerTube
Regardless of whether it's the classic "PowerPack" (add-on battery) or the integrated "PowerTube" – as long as the battery has the oval connection of generations 2, 3 or 4, this adapter is the right tool. It is a must for every certified e-bike workshop.

FAQs about the Smart Adapter for Bosch
Does the adapter also fit the new "Smart System" (BES3)?
It depends on the version of your adapter. The standard adapter with the oval connector described here does not physically fit the new BES3 batteries (Smart System from approx. 2022), as these use a different connector geometry and communication. A separate, specific adapter is required for the BES3 system.
Can I use it to test Bosch Classic (Gen 1) batteries?
No. The Bosch Classic Line (Gen 1) uses a rectangular connector and a different connection technology. For these older batteries you need the "Smart Adapter for Bosch Classic". This adapter here is for the successors (Gen 2 and newer) with an oval connector.
Can I test the battery with a multimeter without an adapter?
No, this is not possible. Bosch batteries de-energise the main contacts ("deep sleep") as soon as they are removed from the bike. A multimeter will show 0V. Only the adapter that sends the control signal can unlock the voltage.
Does the adapter also support 48V or 24V systems?
No. The Bosch Active/Performance system works almost exclusively with 36V. The adapter is specifically designed for this voltage range and the Bosch protocol.
