Yuasa SWL1800FR high performance battery

Description

Product information

Yuasa SWL1800FR is a VRLA high-performance battery with 12 volts and 57.6 Ah (C20). It delivers a high short-term output of 1974 W at 10 minutes per block. Thanks to the combination of reliable performance, long service life and a flame-retardant housing, it is the ideal choice for UPS systems, emergency and security power supplies, data centres, telecommunications and industrial control systems. The "FR" in the model designation stands for the flame-retardant housing, which offers additional safety.

Highlights at a glance

  • Long service life: Eurobat Long Life 10 to 12 years, Yuasa Service life up to 10 years at 20 °C.
  • High capacity: 78 Ah with 20-hour discharge up to 1.75 V/cell, 72.1 Ah with 10-hour discharge up to 1.8 V/cell.
  • Strong power output: up to 800 A for 1 second, 500 A for 1 minute.
  • Very low impedance: less than 5 mΩ at 1 kHz for excellent load behaviour.
  • Safe and robust: ABS housing according to UL94 V0, low pressure drain valves.

Top performance for demanding applications

With its very low impedance and high short-term current capability, the SWL1800FR is ideal for uninterruptible power supply systems with high power density, security power supplies, communication nodes, industrial buffering and critical infrastructures. It reliably delivers peak power and a stable voltage to ensure a secure power supply even in the most demanding applications.

Efficiency meets long service life

For standby mode, a float charge voltage of 13.65 V ±1 per cent per block (2.275 V per cell) at 20 °C is recommended, supplemented by a temperature compensation of minus 3 mV per cell and degree Celsius. No current limitation is necessary in this charging mode. For heavy charging, 14.50 V ±3 per cent per block (2.42 V per cell) is provided, with compensation of minus 4 mV per cell and degree Celsius. A current limit of 13.75 A is recommended.

Technology for flexible applications

The wide temperature range enables versatile applications: Discharging from -20 °C to +60 °C, charging from -15 °C to +50 °C and storage from -20 °C to +50 °C. The robust housing is made of flame-retardant ABS in accordance with UL94 V0. Each cell is equipped with a low-pressure valve for safe pressure regulation. VRLA batteries must not be operated in gas-tight housings, as hydrogen gas can be produced in the event of a fault.

FAQs about the Yuasa SWL1800FR battery

What is the SWL1800FR designed for?

The SWL series is a VRLA series with high discharge capacity. It is ideal for applications such as UPS systems that require high short-term power. This series is designed for a long service life of 10 to 12 years in accordance with EUROBAT.

What is the capacity of the battery?

The nominal voltage is 12 V, with a capacity of 57.6 Ah at a 20-hour rate (C20) and 55 Ah at the 10-hour rate (C10).

How much power does it deliver during high-current discharge?

The typical 10-minute constant output is 1974 W per block up to 9.6 V at 20 °C.

What temperature ranges and self-discharge should be considered?

The recommended temperature ranges are: Storage (fully charged) from -20 °C to +50 °C, charging from -15 °C to +50 °C and discharging from -20 °C to +60 °C. Typical self-discharge is approx. 3 per cent per month at 20 °C.

Can the SWL1800FR be operated in a closed housing?

No, VRLA batteries emit hydrogen gas in the event of a fault. Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid operation in airtight enclosures.

What is the difference between SWL and NPL?

The SWL series is an advanced NPL design with an improved energy-to-density ratio and up to 40 per cent additional discharge capacity during high current discharge, making it particularly powerful.
