Description

Product information

The Sonnenschein SB12/75 A is an absolutely maintenance-free premium-class lead-gel block battery developed for the most demanding cyclic applications in professional solar systems. As part of the globally proven SOLAR BLOCK series, it combines the proven Dryfit® gel technology with an extremely robust tubular plate design. With a nominal voltage of 12V and a capacity of 75 Ah (C100), it offers the highest cycle stability and reliability for self-sufficient energy systems.

Highlights at a glance

  • Superior tubular plate technology: Offers the highest cycle stability and longevity in demanding solar and traction applications.
  • Dryfit® gel technology: Absolutely maintenance-free over the entire lifecycle, maximum reliability and leak-proof.
  • Extremely long cycle life: Developed for thousands of charge and discharge cycles (approx. 1200 cycles at 60% DoD).
  • Deep discharge safe: Excellent recovery even after repeated deep discharges and absolutely robust against acid stratification.
  • Low self-discharge: Perfect for seasonal use and long periods of self-sufficiency.

Maximum security of supply for self-sufficient systems

The Sonnenschein SB12/75 A is the specialist for large and critical cyclic applications. Its main areas of use are medium off-grid solar systems for holiday homes, self-sufficient telecommunications stations, signal systems, and demanding marine applications. Wherever the battery is the only energy source and is deeply discharged daily, this battery offers maximum life and reliability.

Proven Dryfit® gel and tubular plate technology

The combination of Dryfit® gel and tubular plates (positively reinforced) is the key to this battery’s extreme robustness. The gel binds the electrolyte, prevents acid stratification, and makes the battery maintenance-free. The tubular plate construction protects the active mass from decay during deep discharge cycles, providing unrivalled durability compared to standard grid plate batteries.

Developed for longevity and reliability

The SOLAR BLOCK series was designed for maximum cost-effectiveness throughout its life cycle. The extremely long cycle life significantly reduces the need for expensive and time-consuming battery changes and lowers the overall operating costs (TCO) of the system. The high manufacturing quality ensures consistent performance and maximum operational safety.

FAQs about the Sonnenschein SB12/75 A lead-gel battery

What is the difference between this SOLAR BLOCK (SB) and the SOLAR (S) series?

The SOLAR BLOCK (SB) series (this model) uses a tubular plate construction. It is designed for an extremely high number of cycles (approx. 1200 cycles) and the toughest daily use in large off-grid systems. The SOLAR (S) series (e.g. S12/85 A) uses grid plates and is also very cycle-resistant (approx. 800 cycles), but the SB series offers even higher durability in high-performance cyclic operation.

What is the main advantage of Dryfit® gel technology in solar operation?

In cyclic solar operation, avoiding acid stratification is crucial. In gel batteries, the electrolyte is bound, preventing stratification and making the battery more resistant to deep discharges. This results in a significantly longer life than with AGM or wet batteries in this application.

What do the capacity specifications C10 and C100 mean?

The capacity of a battery depends on how quickly it is discharged. The C-rate indicates the discharge current. C100 (discharge over 100 hours) is the standard for solar applications, as slow discharges over several days are more common here. C10 (discharge over 10 hours) is relevant for faster discharging.

How should this lead battery be disposed of?

Lead batteries contain environmentally harmful substances and must not be disposed of in household waste. You can return your old battery free of charge to any retailer selling new batteries or to local recycling facilities to ensure proper recycling.
