ANSMANN automatic charger for 2-24V lead batteries (2.4Ah - 24Ah)

Description

Product information

This versatile Ansmann plug-in charger is the ideal solution for users who want to maintain a wide variety of lead-acid batteries with just one device. It covers the entire voltage range from 2V to 24V and is specially designed for small to medium capacities from 2.4 Ah to 24 Ah. Thanks to the intelligent charging technology, the voltage is set fully automatically – incorrect operation due to incorrect voltage selection is therefore impossible. It is ideal for lead-acid, lead-gel and AGM batteries.

Highlights at a glance

  • Fully automatic voltage detection: The device analyses the connected battery and automatically sets itself to 2V, 6V, 12V or 24V.
  • Wide range of applications: Optimised for battery capacities from 2.4 Ah to 24 Ah, ideal for motorbikes, ride-on mowers, alarm systems or classic cars.
  • Gentle charging: Automatically adjusts the charging current to the voltage level (e.g. 900mA at 2V to 300mA at 24V) to prevent the battery from overheating.
  • Overcharge protection & maintenance: Once fully charged, the device switches to trickle charge mode, allowing the battery to remain permanently connected (e.g. over the winter).
  • Safety functions: Electronic protection against short circuit, reverse polarity and overcharging guarantees safe operation.
  • Easy handling: Equipped with insulated pole clamps for quick contact; LED indicators provide information about charging operation and possible faults.

Intelligent charging technology for a long service life

The special feature of this charger is the microprocessor control. It prevents the "gassing" of the battery that often occurs with simple chargers by precisely limiting the voltage. The charging process takes place according to an IU characteristic curve: First, charging takes place at a constant current (I phase) until the final charging voltage is reached. Then the voltage is kept constant (U phase) while the current decreases. This ensures that the battery is charged to 100% without being damaged.

Ideal for seasonal vehicles and hobby

As the device is permanently chargeable, it is perfect for winter storage. You simply connect it to the battery of your motorbike, classic car or lawn tractor in autumn and the vehicle is ready to go in spring. It is also ideal for 6V children's toy cars or 24V wheelchair batteries (smaller capacity).

FAQs about the Ansmann 2-24V charger

What happens if I connect a deeply discharged battery?

As the device has to recognise the voltage automatically (e.g. differentiating between a full 6V battery and an empty 12V battery), problems can occur with deeply discharged batteries (below a certain minimum voltage). The device may then recognise the battery as defective or select a lower voltage level. Deep-discharged batteries often require special refreshers.

Can I use the charger for my car?

For trickle charging (winter storage), yes. For complete charging of an empty car battery (e.g. 60 Ah), however, the charging current of 0.6 amps is too low. The charging process would take several days. More powerful Ansmann car chargers are recommended for this purpose.

How long can the device remain connected?

Unlimited. The device is explicitly designed for continuous operation. The trickle charge function equalises the self-discharge of the battery without overcharging it.

What do the LEDs on the device mean?

Power (Red): Mains plug is plugged in, device is ready. Charge (Green): Battery is being charged. Polarity (Red): Battery is connected the wrong way round (polarity reversal). Please swap the terminals.
