Precise energy for analog photography
The Varta V625U is the first choice for photographers and enthusiasts who want to keep their classic analog cameras and hand-held light meters in operation. Many of the legendary cameras of the 60s, 70s and 80s were designed for this type of battery. The V625U delivers the necessary energy to control their exposure systems and other electronic functions precisely and reliably.
Reliable alkaline technology
The proven alkaline manganese technology (Zn/MnO2) provides high capacity and a stable performance curve, ideal for the requirements of cameras. Unlike the old mercury batteries, the Varta V625U is free from environmentally harmful substances and can be handled and disposed of without any problems. The high-quality workmanship also protects the sensitive electronics of your camera from leakage.
Durability and safety for your equipment
Varta batteries stand for the highest quality standards. The V625U has been developed for a long service life and low self-discharge, so you can still rely on a battery that's ready for use even after extended storage. The protective individual blister pack ensures that the battery retains its full power until use and is protected from short circuit.

FAQs about the Varta photobattery V625U / LR9
Is this battery a direct replacement for the old PX625 mercury battery?
The V625U is the appropriate mechanical replacement for the PX625 and will function in most devices. However, please note the voltage difference: the V625U is 1.5 volts, whereas the original mercury battery was 1.35 volts. In cameras with unregulated light meters, this may lead to slight misexposure, which can often be corrected by adjusting the ISO setting.
Does the voltage of this battery drop during use?
As an alkaline battery, the V625U has a slowly declining discharge voltage curve. Original mercury batteries had a very flat curve. For most applications, this difference is negligible. For utmost precision in very sensitive devices, special zinc-air batteries or voltage adapters are available as alternatives.
For which cameras or devices is this battery suitable?
It fits a wide range of classic cameras and light meters that originally required a PX625 battery. These include models from Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Rollei and many others from the era of analog photography.
How should this battery be disposed of?
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Please take the empty battery to the designated collection points in stores or the municipal recycling centres to ensure environmentally friendly recycling.
