What is the difference between PX1604 and MN1604?

The PX1604 (Procell Intense), recognisable by its grey design with red bar, is specially designed for devices with high power requirements (e.g. radio microphones, medical devices). The MN1604 (Procell Constant) is for devices with low, constant power consumption (e.g. simple smoke detectors, multimeters) optimised.

Can I use the PX1604 in a normal smoke detector?

Technically yes, it fits and works. However, normal smoke detectors are "Low-Drain" devices. Here the Procell Constant (MN1604) is usually the more economical choice as it is optimised for these low discharge currents. The "Intense" plays to its strengths in devices with high consumption.

What is the shelf life of the PX1604?

Duracell Procell batteries are designed for a long shelf life. If stored correctly (cool and dry), they will keep for up to 5 years, so you can stock them in larger quantities for servicing requirements.

How should this battery be disposed of?
