Is this battery suitable for cars?

Generally, no. With 120 Ah and a length of over 51 cm, this battery is much too large for normal cars. It is designed for commercial vehicles (trucks, tractors). However, there are a few exceptions in the field of large motorhomes or expedition vehicles, where it could be used as a supply battery (if no cycle stability is required).

What is the difference to the YBX1612?

Both batteries often have the same case size (about 513 mm length), but differ in their internals.

• YBX1627: 120 Ah / 680 A (lighter, fewer lead plates, cheaper).
• YBX1612: 143 Ah / 900 A (heavier, more plates, stronger). If you have a large engine or have to start in winter, the stronger YBX1612 is the better choice. For older, smaller engines, the YBX1627 is sufficient.

Where are the terminals on this battery?

The YBX1627 usually has pole arrangement 4. This means: when you have the battery in front of you (long side), the positive terminal is on the left. With truck batteries, the terminals are often located on the narrow side. Please make sure to check the wiring in your battery box before purchase.

Can I use it to operate electrical consumers when stationary?

The YBX1000 series is a pure starter battery. Occasional radio use or lighting is fine, but it is not designed for regular operation of tail lifts, auxiliary heaters or fridges overnight. For this, you should switch to the Yuasa YBX3000 or YBX5000 series.
