What is the difference to the YBX7096?

Both batteries are the same length (278 mm) and belong to the EFB series. The crucial difference is the height:

• YBX7096: 190 mm high (Standard L3).
• YBX7100: 175 mm high (Flat LB3). If your car has little space above (often Ford/Opel), you must choose the flat YBX7100.

What is the difference to the YBX5100?

The YBX5100 is a normal wet battery (75Ah) in the same case (LB3), but without start-stop technology. The YBX7100 (65Ah) is the EFB version for start-stop. Even though the YBX5100 has a higher nominal capacity, it must not be used in a start-stop vehicle as it would wear out too quickly.

Why does this battery "only" have 65 Ah for this size?

EFB batteries have more robust plates and special separators (fleece) inside to ensure cycle durability. This takes up installation space. Therefore, EFB batteries in the same case often have slightly less nominal capacity (Ah) than simple wet batteries (which often have 70-75 Ah in LB3), but deliver significantly more energy over their lifetime in start-stop operation.

Do I need to register the battery?

Yes. Vehicles that require this battery have a battery management system (BMS). The sensor must be reset so that it recognises the new battery and correctly controls the start-stop system and the alternator control.
