Yuasa EFB start-stop battery YBX7005 12V 65Ah 620A (YBX7000 series)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YBX7005 is a highly developed EFB battery (Enhanced Flooded Battery) from the YBX7000 series, specifically designed for Asian vehicles with start-stop systems. With a capacity of 65 Ah and a cold cranking current of 620 A (EN), it meets the important Asian industry standard "Q-85". Thanks to innovative carbon-lithium additives, it offers extremely high dynamic charge acceptance (+170%) and significantly improved cycle life (+270%) compared to conventional batteries, making it the ideal choice for modern fuel-saving systems.
Highlights at a glance
- Start-stop technology: Specially developed EFB technology for vehicles with start-stop automatic, to reliably restart the engine at the traffic lights.
- JIS format (Q-85 / D23): Precisely fitting housing for Asian vehicles, replaces the widely used types Q85, Q-85 or 95D23L.
- High cycle life: Withstands up to 270% more charge/discharge cycles than a standard battery, ideal for frequent engine start.
- Lithium-carbon additive: Ensures extremely fast current intake (charge acceptance), so the battery is quickly fully recharged during short drive phases.
- Maintenance-free: The sealed double lid prevents water loss and protects against leakage when inclined.
- OE quality: Meets or exceeds the specifications of the vehicle manufacturers (e.g. Mazda i-Stop).
The specialist for Mazda i-Stop and Toyota
The YBX7005 is the most important battery for owners of modern Asian vehicles with start-stop systems. It is the direct replacement for the "Q-85" battery, which is factory-fitted in many models such as Mazda 3, Mazda 6, Mazda CX-5 (Skyactiv engines with i-Stop), Toyota RAV4, Subaru Impreza/Forester or Nissan Juke. If you install a normal battery here, you risk the start-stop system not working and the battery being defective after just a few months.

FAQs about the Yuasa YBX7005
What does "Q-85" mean?
Q-85 is a code from the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) for a special start-stop battery in the D23 housing. If your old battery says "Q-85", "Q85" or "Q-55", the Yuasa YBX7005 is exactly the right compatible replacement.
Can I use the cheaper YBX5005 instead?
No, under no circumstances. The YBX5005 is a standard wet battery. If your car has start-stop (as is the case with Q-85), the YBX5005 would wear out extremely quickly due to the constant starting processes (often in 3–6 months) and the start-stop system would usually not activate at all. You absolutely need the EFB technology of the YBX7005.
Do I have to register the battery in the system?
In modern vehicles with a battery management system (BMS), such as with the Mazda CX-5 or Mazda 6 with i-Stop, the vehicle must be informed that a new battery has been installed (battery reset) so that the i-Stop system works correctly again and the charge cycle counter is reset.
What is the difference between EFB and AGM?
EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is a developed wet battery for standard start-stop systems (often in small cars or Asian models). AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) is even more powerful and is often used in vehicles with brake energy recovery. If your vehicle was originally equipped with an EFB (Q-85), the YBX7005 (EFB) is the correct replacement. An upgrade to AGM is possible, but not strictly necessary.
