What is the difference to the YBX5629?

The YBX5629 is an SHD (Super Heavy Duty) mid-range battery ("Silver Series"). The YBX7629 ("Gold Series") is the EFB variant with acid circulation. The YBX7629 can withstand significantly more charge/discharge cycles and charges faster. Those who spend a lot of nights in their truck ("hotel load") should certainly choose the YBX7629.

Does the battery also fit if a 225Ah battery was previously installed?

Yes, as long as the dimensions are correct (Type B, 513x223x223 mm). Although the nominal capacity is 185 Ah on paper, which is lower than a 225 Ah standard battery, the EFB technology means the usable capacity and cycle resistance of the YBX7629 is often higher. It collapses less quickly under load than an ordinary 225Ah battery.

What does Type B housing mean?

Type B refers to the 223 mm width. There are also Type A batteries (e.g. YBX7627), which are only 189 mm wide. Please measure the width of your old battery or battery box before purchasing, as these two types are often confused.

Do I need to pay attention to anything when charging EFB batteries?

The charging voltage should ideally be (as is common in modern vehicles) 14.4V up to max. 14.8V. As the battery is maintenance-free, it must not be "cooked" with old chargers (no overcharging >14.8V), as water cannot be topped up.
