Yuasa YBX Active Specialist & Garden 895 12V 26Ah 250A (maintenance-free)

Description

Product information

The Yuasa 895 is the direct counterpart to the 896, but differs significantly in the pole arrangement. It is a robust special battery from the "YBX Active Specialist & Garden" series with 26 Ah capacity and 250 A cold start current. Developed for ride-on mowers, garden tractors and special "kit cars", it offers reliable starting power and is particularly resistant to vibrations. It often replaces the classic DIN type 53030.

Highlights at a glance

  • Positive terminal right (layout 0): The most important feature: The positive terminal is located on the right side (seen from the front). This is the decisive difference to the identical 896 (plus left).
  • The garden all-rounder: Specially designed for lawn tractors and municipal equipment that are used outdoors all year round and require a robust power source.
  • Vibration resistant: The reinforced plate construction protects against damage caused by vibrations, which is vital for the battery when travelling over uneven meadows.
  • Compact DIN format: Measuring 187 x 127 x 181 mm, it is slightly shorter and "boxier" than the American U1 battery, so it fits perfectly in European battery compartments.
  • Maintenance-free: Thanks to calcium/calcium technology, water consumption is minimised; the battery is supplied mostly full and charged and does not need to be topped up.
  • Long service life: The low self-discharge ensures that it is ready to start again in spring even after winter breaks (with correct trickle charging).

Suitable for Husqvarna & Stiga

The Yuasa 895 is the right choice for many ride-on mowers from Husqvarna, Stiga, Jonsered or Partnerif they require the "Plus Right" arrangement. It is also popular in the kit car scene (e.g. Lotus Super Seven replicas) due to its compact size and good starting power.

FAQs about the Yuasa 895

What is the difference to the Yuasa 896?

The only difference is the Polarity.

  • Yuasa 895 (your battery): Positive pole is Right.
  • Yuasa 896: Positive pole is links. As the cables in lawn tractors are often extremely short, only one of the two variants will usually fit. Before buying, it is essential to check which side the red positive cable is on in your mower.

What is the difference to the U1R battery?

Although both have the positive terminal on the right, the Dimensions different.

  • Yuasa 895: 187 mm long (DIN format).
  • Yuasa U1R: 196 mm long (US format). The 895 is just under 1 cm shorter and has a different shape. Both fit into some battery boxes, but only the compact 895 fits into very narrow holders. In addition, the U1R often has flat terminals, while the 895 has L-shaped terminals.

What connections does the battery have?

The Yuasa 895 has connections of the type T4. These are L-shaped terminals with a hole (also called a "bore"). You can simply attach the ring terminals of the vehicle cables through this hole using a screw and nut (usually M6). This is very universal and holds firmly.

Do I have to remove the battery in winter?

Yes, absolutely. Batteries in garden tools almost always die in winter due to deep discharge. Tip: Remove the 895 in autumn, place it in a frost-free place in the cellar and charge it every 8-10 weeks with a small charger (e.g. CTEK XS 0.8). This way it will last 5-7 years instead of just 2 years.
