Crane replacement battery for HBC Radiomatic (BA223000 / BA223030) - 6V NiMH upgrade
Description
Product information
This NiMH battery is the modern successor to the classic nickel-cadmium batteries (NiCd) from HBC with the designations BA223000 and BA223030. These older batteries often had problems with the memory effect and offered lower capacities.
The replacement battery offered here uses modern nickel-metal hydride technology. It fits perfectly mechanically in the compartment of your transmitter (identical design FuB 3A), but delivers more stable performance and is more environmentally friendly. With 6 volt and a capacity of usually 1,500 mAh to 2,100 mAh (depending on the cell chosen), it brings your crane control back up to the performance level of a new device.
Highlights at a glance
- Technology upgrade (NiMH instead of NiCd): The biggest advantage: The memory effect is eliminated. You no longer have to fully discharge the battery before charging it. This significantly extends the service life in everyday construction site use.
- Longer runtime: While the old BA2230xx batteries often only had 700 mAh or 1400 mAh, modern replacement batteries offer 1,500 mAh to 2,100 mAh. This means significantly longer operating times without changing batteries.
- Full compatibility: Replaces 1:1 the old HBC numbers BA223000 and BA223030 as well as the designation FuB 3A (NiCd). It is mechanically identical to the newer type BA203060 (FuB 03A).
- Robust housing: The battery comes in a shock-resistant housing (usually HBC orange or black), which is specially designed for harsh use on construction sites.
- Compatible with chargers: Can be charged with existing HBC chargers (e.g. QE10860, QA10860 or IL series) as these usually support both technologies (NiCd/NiMH).
Compatible transmitter series (extract)
This 6V block is one of the most widely used batteries at HBC:
- Spectrum series: spectrum 1, spectrum 2, spectrum A, spectrum B
- Micron series: micron 5, micron 7
- Eco series: eco
- Linus series: linus 6
- Technos series: technos 2

FAQs about the HBC BA223000 / BA223030
What is the difference between BA22... and BA20...?
This is the HBC code for cell chemistry:
- BA22xxxx: Old NiCd technology (contains toxic cadmium, memory effect).
- BA20xxxx: New NiMH technology (more environmentally friendly, more powerful). You can (and should) always replace a BA22 battery with a BA20 battery.
My old battery was black, the new one is orange. Is that a problem?
No. The colour of the housing varies depending on the production batch or manufacturer of the replacement battery. What matters is only the voltage (6V), the shape (FuB 3A), and the position of the contacts.
Do I have to consider anything with NiMH?
If you come from NiCd: NiMH batteries do not like deep discharge and extreme heat.
- Charge the battery when the LED on the transmitter flashes red (do not wait until it is "dead").
- Do not leave the battery in the blazing hot crane operator’s cab in summer.
