Important note on the design

There are different batteries within the Micrex-F series. Please check your old part before ordering:

The "big one" (described here): Approx. 45 mm long (CR8-LHC / FBT030A). This is the standard for most Micrex-F CPUs.
The "little one": Approx. 27 mm long (CR2-L / PM-20). This is rarely used.
Connector: The connector of the "TOSMICREXF" is usually white and has a small lug for locking on the circuit board.

Assembly & Safety

Change under voltage: To avoid data loss, the battery must be with control switched on (Power ON) must be replaced. Do not switch off the machine while removing the old battery, otherwise the memory will be deleted immediately!
Alarm LED: Replace the battery as soon as the red "ALM" or "BATT" LED on the CPU lights up.
Reset: For some Micrex-F CPUs, the battery error must be reset after replacement using a reset button or command.

What is the difference between FBT020A and FBT030A?

The difference lies in the capacity and size.

FBT020A (CR6-L): Often has approx. 1600 mAh.
FBT030A (CR8-LHC): Has approx. 3000 mAh (high capacity). Both have 3.0V and usually the same white connector. The FBT030A lasts significantly longer and is recommended for machines that are often switched off. Mechanically, the larger FBT030A usually fits into the same holder, as this is often just a clip.

Do I have to delete an error after the change?

Yes, often. With the Micrex-F series, the "BATT" LED sometimes does not disappear automatically. You may need to press a reset button on the CPU (depending on the CPU model) or acknowledge the alarm in the system menu. Check the manual for your specific control unit (F80, F120 etc.).

Can I use a normal photo battery (CR123A)?

No. Although both have 3.0 volts, the CR123A has different dimensions and no connector. Soldering on lithium batteries is dangerous (risk of explosion!). In addition, CR123A batteries are often not optimised for years of micro-discharge current (memory backup), but for high currents (flash). Use the original industrial cell for data security.
