CNC battery 575332TA for Siemens Simatic – 3.0V lithium backup battery
Description
Product information
The CNC Battery 575332TA (often also referred to as Size 1/2 AA) is the essential backup power supply for classic Siemens Simatic S7-300 and S5 controllers. As a direct replacement for the original part number 6ES7971-1AA00-0AA0, this 3.0 volt lithium cell ensures that your automation systems do not suffer from memory loss.
This battery buffers the RAM memory and the real-time clock (RTC) when the system is disconnected from the mains. A failure of this small component can mean the loss of the PLC program and all retentive data, leading to costly downtime and reprogramming. The high-quality lithium thionyl chloride technology (Li-SOCl2) guarantees an extremely long service life and shelf life.
Highlights at a glance
- Perfect compatibility: 100% precision-fit replacement for the Siemens original battery 6ES7971-1AA00-0AA0.
- High voltage (3.0V): Uses lithium thionyl chloride chemistry for a stable voltage of 3.0 volts (unlike standard 3.0V lithium), which is absolutely essential for certain Siemens CPUs.
- Fully pre-assembled: Supplied complete with connection cable and the specific 2-pin connector. Old battery out, new in – done.
- Long service life: Thanks to extremely low self-discharge (< 1% per year at 20°C) the battery provides a standby time of up to 10 years (in storage) and several years in operation.
- Industry standard: Robust cell design (size 1/2 AA), resistant to temperatures and vibrations in the control cabinet.
- Data security: Protects against the loss of user programs, flags, counters and system data in the event of a power failure.
Fields of application
This buffer battery is used in a wide range of Siemens automation components:
- Simatic S7-300: In almost all CPUs of the S7-300 series (e.g. CPU 312, 313, 314, 315, 316 etc.) that have a battery compartment (older models without Micro Memory Card concept or as RTC buffer).
- Simatic S5: S5-90U, S5-95U, S5-100U and other compact controllers.
- Sinumerik: Various CNC controllers from Siemens.
- Replacement for: Varta 6126, Tadiran SL-350, Saft LS14250 (each with the matching connector).
Assembly & safety notes
- Replacement: Battery replacement should generally be carried out with the supply voltage switched on to the CPU to prevent data loss during the changeover.
- Diagnosis: Pay attention to the "SF" (collective fault) or specific "BATF" (battery fault) LED on the CPU. If this is lit (often yellow or red), the voltage is critically low.
- Plug direction: The plug is usually designed to be reverse polarity protected. Do not use force.
- Do not charge: Never attempt to charge this battery. There is a danger of explosion.

FAQs about the 575332TA
Is this a 3V or 3.6V battery?
This is a 3.0V battery. Many standard BIOS batteries have 3.0V, but Siemens S5/S7 controllers specifically require 3.0V for Li-SOCl2 technology. A 3.0V battery may be immediately detected as "empty" by the controller.
How often should I change the battery?
Siemens usually recommends a change every 12 months in the maintenance manual as a preventive measure. At the latest, however, when the battery LED comes on. Since the consequences of data loss are expensive, annual replacement is considered "best practice".
Does this battery fit the S7-400?
No. The S7-400 series mostly uses larger batteries (often size AA or mono cells buffered in the power supply unit), e.g. part number 6ES7971-0BA00. The 575332TA (1/2 AA) offered here is too small for the 400 series.Properties
