Batterytester Smart adapter for Panasonic (standard 26V)
Description
Product information
This Smart Adapter is the specialised connection solution for diagnosing e-bike batteries of the classic Panasonic mid-motor drive (26V standard system). This legendary drive system, which played a key role in kickstarting the e-bike boom (known from Flyer C series, Kalkhoff, Raleigh), is represented millions of times on the market. The adapter establishes a safe and polarity reversal-free connection between your battery tester and the battery to perform a reliable capacity test, which is crucial for the service assessment of batteries that are often getting older.
Highlights at a glance
- Specific compatibility: Designed for the classic Panasonic 26V standard system (recognisable by the wide carrying handle and the position behind the seat tube).
- Safe contacting: Features the precisely fitting receptacle plug for the blade contacts of the Panasonic battery, which prevents loose contacts and sparking.
- Plug & Play: Very easy handling – connect the adapter and the test device can immediately begin diagnosis.
- Professional diagnosis: Enables dealers to objectively determine the remaining capacity (SoH) in order to decide whether a cell replacement or new purchase is necessary.
- Robust workshop quality: Durable materials and sturdy connectors are designed for daily use in the bike workshop.
- Wide market coverage: Covers a huge fleet of older e-bikes (Flyer, KTM, Kalkhoff, Raleigh, Victoria) that now increasingly require service.
Precise analysis for the classic
The Panasonic 26V drive is considered the “forefather” of modern pedelecs. Even though the technology is considered robust, the lithium-ion cells (often Mn-based) are subject to natural ageing. With this adapter you can perform a real discharge under load instead of just estimating the voltage. This way you can identify batteries that indicate “full”, but immediately break down when climbing hills (high internal resistance).
Indispensable for servicing existing bikes
As these e-bikes are often very durable, they are still found on the roads in large numbers. For workshops, the ability to professionally test these older systems is an important service building block to ensure customer retention and avoid costly misdiagnoses.

FAQs about the Smart Adapter for Panasonic (Standard)
What is the difference to the “Premium” Adapter?
The Panasonic system has been further developed. The older Standard system (26V) has a different contact geometry and communication than the newer Premium system (26V & 36V, often recognisable by the “Push” button for charge status display on the battery). The adapters are not mechanically compatible. This adapter is for the older standard version.
Can I also measure the voltage with a multimeter?
Yes, in the Panasonic 26V standard system, voltage is often present directly at the outer contacts (unlike Bosch). However, the open-circuit voltage says nothing about the condition under load. Only the adapter in combination with the load tester provides a meaningful capacity curve.
Which brands does the adapter fit?
It fits almost all e-bikes with the Panasonic 26V mid-motor that was the market standard until around 2012/2013. These include models from Flyer (F-, C-, T-, L-series), Kalkhoff (Agattu, Tasman), Raleigh (Dover), KTM (Amparo), Victoria and many more.
Can I charge via the adapter?
The adapter is designed for connection to the diagnostic device (discharge). The original Panasonic charging station (tabletop charger) should always be used for charging.
