This adapter is optimised for the common 3-pin and 5-pin EnergyPak systems (side-release/top-release).

Can I measure the voltage without an adapter?

No. Giant batteries are in "deep sleep" or protection mode when they are removed. The main contacts are de-energised. Without the adapter that sends the wake-up signal, a multimeter shows 0V.

Can I charge the battery via the adapter?

This adapter is primarily designed for discharging and diagnostics. Charging should always be done with the original Giant Smart Charger, as this communicates with the BMS via additional lines (often 6-pin on the charger) to control the balancing of the cells.

Do I need software for this?
