Batterytester Smart adapter for BionX TREK 36V
Description
Product information
This specialised Smart Adapter is the professional connection solution for the diagnosis of Trek e-bike batteries equipped with the BionX drive system (Ride+). BionX systems, especially in the Trek-specific integration, are known for their complex CAN bus communication. As these batteries do not carry any voltage at the contacts when removed, this adapter is necessary to activate the battery management system (BMS) and enable the battery for precise capacity measurement.
Highlights at a glance
- Specific compatibility: Customised for Trek e-bikes with BionX drive (Ride+ series) that have the specific Trek charging connection (36V / 37V system).
- BMS activation: Takes over the necessary CAN bus communication to wake the battery from "deep sleep" and close the main contacts for the test.
- Plug & Play: Simple connection directly to the charging socket of the battery – the adapter is recognised by the test system and starts activation automatically.
- Professional diagnostics: Enables dealers to create objective test reports (SoH/residual capacity), essential for evaluating the many Trek Ride+ bikes still in circulation.
- Safe connection: The specific connector prevents polarity reversal and ensures a firm contact for the high currents during the discharge test.
- Robust workshop quality: High-quality cables and durable components guarantee reliability in daily service use.
Precise analysis for Trek Ride+ (BionX)
The BionX system in Trek bikes (often referred to as Ride+) has been a market leader in the rear motor segment for years. The batteries are "intelligent" and switch off for safety reasons if they are not connected to the console or the motor. This smart adapter simulates the periphery of the e-bike. As a result, the BMS opens the circuit, and your battery tester can simulate a realistic load to determine whether the battery is still powerful or whether cells have become highly resistive due to ageing.
Indispensable for servicing Trek classics
Trek e-bikes are very durable and of high quality. Many customers want to continue using their older Ride+ models. For workshops, this adapter is the key to offering these customers a professional battery service, whether for fault diagnosis in the event of a loss of range or for pre-sale checks.

FAQs about the Smart Adapter for BionX TREK
Does the adapter fit all BionX batteries?
No. BionX has produced different housing shapes and connectors. This adapter is specific to the Trek integration (Trek Ride+), which often uses its own plug shape on the charging socket. There are other adapters for standard BionX batteries (rail battery or universal rack).
Can I measure the voltage without an adapter?
No. BionX batteries are completely de-energised when not in use. A multimeter shows 0V at the contacts. Without the Smart Adapter, which sends the digital "wake-up signal" via the CAN bus, no measurement or diagnosis is possible.
Can I charge via the adapter?
The adapter is primarily designed for connection to the diagnostic device (discharging). Due to the integrated balancer technology, BionX batteries should always be charged with the original Trek/BionX power supply unit.
Is the adapter suitable for the 48V BionX systems?
This adapter is explicitly designed for the 36V / 37V Generation shown. The newer 48V BionX systems (D-series etc.) often use the same connector, but may have a different communication protocol or pin assignment. Please check the compatibility of your test device for 48V.Reviews 0
