Batterytester Smart adapter for Accell (Sparta, Batavus, Koga)
Description
Product information
This "Plug & Play Accell" smart adapter is the professional solution for connecting e-bike batteries from the Accell Group (e.g. used in Sparta, Batavus, Koga) to a universal battery tester. The proprietary battery systems from Accell, especially the ION technology and E-Motion systems, are known for their complex communication. This adapter performs the necessary signal translation, wakes up the battery management system (BMS), and thus enables reliable diagnostics and capacity measurement.
Highlights at a glance
- Specific compatibility: Developed for Accell Group battery systems, often found in brands such as Sparta, Batavus and Koga (e.g. ION or E-Motion systems).
- Plug & Play: Easiest operation without complicated configuration – the adapter recognises the battery and automatically establishes the connection.
- BMS activation: Sends the necessary "wake-up" signal to the battery to release the discharge output, which is locked in idle mode.
- Professional diagnostics: Enables dealers to objectively assess state of health (SoH) data and remaining capacity, which is often difficult with the frequently integrated Accell batteries.
- Robust workshop quality: High-quality connectors and durable cable jackets ensure reliability in daily service use.
- Safe connection: Reverse-polarity-protected connectors prevent operating errors and protect both the battery and the test device.
Precise analysis for Accell systems
Accell Group batteries (often known from the "banana batteries" integrated into the frame or specific pannier rack batteries) feature complex charging electronics. Without the correct handshake signal, these batteries do not supply power. This smart adapter simulates the e-bike's communication. Consequently, the BMS opens the circuit, and your battery tester can simulate a realistic load to determine the true range and health status of the battery.
Indispensable for Dutch premium brands
As Accell brands such as Sparta and Batavus are particularly widespread in the trekking and city sector (and especially in the Benelux and German markets), this adapter is a must for every e-bike workshop. It enables service on a huge fleet of existing bikes where standard measurement methods fail.

FAQs about the Smart Adapter for Accell
Does the adapter work for all Sparta/Batavus batteries?
The Accell Group uses various systems (ION, E-Motion, Bosch). This adapter is specific to the proprietary Accell systems (often ION or their own rear hub motors). If the bike is equipped with a Bosch or Yamaha drive, you will need the appropriate Bosch or Yamaha adapter, even if "Batavus" appears on the frame.
Can I measure the voltage with a multimeter?
Not directly with most Accell batteries. The contacts are without voltage as long as there is no communication. The adapter is absolutely necessary to get the BMS to enable the voltage output.
Does the battery need to be removed for testing?
Yes, generally the battery is removed from the bike and connected directly to the adapter. This excludes possible faults in the bike's wiring and provides pure battery data.
Is software required for evaluation?
The adapter establishes the connection. The actual control of the discharge process and evaluation of the data (curve, capacity in Wh) takes place via the connected test device and its PC software.
