Solar cable red 100m 6mm² IEC62930 – SOLR6100 for high-performance PV systems
Description
Product information
The SOLR6100 solar cable (100 metres, 6mm²) in red is the professional solution for photovoltaic installations where maximum efficiency and minimum resistance are paramount. With a length of 100 metres on the reel and a reinforced cross-section of 6mm², this cable is ideal for large roof systems, ground-mounted projects or systems with high currents. The red labelling enables standard-compliant identification of the positive pole (+) and ensures clear cabling.
Certified according to the international standard IEC 62930, this cable offers the highest level of safety for modern PV systems with voltages up to 1500V DC. The larger cross-section minimises voltage losses even over long distances and is ideal for high-output module generations that supply high currents.
Highlights at a glance
- Maximum efficiency: The 6mm² cross-section significantly reduces electrical resistance and yields more output compared to standard cables.
- Certified safety: Conforms to IEC 62930 standard (H1Z2Z2-K) for use in photovoltaic systems up to 1500V DC.
- High range: 100 metres in one piece allow individual cuts for tailored string connections without unnecessary splice points.
- Extremely resistant: The premium XLPO double insulation is UV-resistant, ozone-resistant and flame-retardant for a lifespan of over 25 years.
- Corrosion-protected conductor: Fine-stranded, tinned copper offers consistent conductivity and protection against oxidation in humid environments.
- Wide temperature range: Reliable operation under extreme weather conditions from -40°C to +90°C (short-term peaks up to +120°C).
Areas of application
SOLR6100 is the first choice for demanding PV projects:
- Large roof systems & PV parks
- Efficient string cabling and connecting distant module fields to the central inverter.
- High-performance balcony power stations
- Ideal for systems with modern modules (500Wp+), to transport high currents without loss.
- Battery storage & stand-alone systems
- Perfect for 24V or 48V systems, where low voltage drops are essential for charging efficiency.
Assembly & safety instructions
- Professional connection
- Use only MC4 connectors approved for 6mm² cables for this cross-section and use quality crimping pliers.
- Mechanical protection
- When routing on roofs or through walls, use corrugated tubing or cable ducts to protect the insulation from mechanical abrasion and rodent bites.
- Parallel cable routing
- Route positive (red) and negative (black) lines as parallel and close together as possible to minimise electromagnetic interference (induction loops).

FAQs about solar cable red 100m 6mm²
Why should I choose 6mm² instead of 4mm²?
For higher yield and future-proofing. Especially with cable lengths over 15-20 metres or with modules of high current (Isc above 13A), 6mm² significantly reduces voltage drop. This means that more energy reaches the inverter and the cable remains cooler under heavy load.
Can the cable be laid directly in the ground?
Only in conduit. Although the insulation is very robust, the cable is not designed for direct burial unprotected. However, laying in the ground in a suitable cable conduit is no problem.
Is the cable resistant to chemicals?
Yes. The XLPO insulation is resistant to acids, alkalis, and ammonia. This makes it especially suitable for installations in agriculture (barns) or in industrially affected areas.Properties
