Product information
The JA Solar JAM54D41-LB 460W is an absolute premium solar module that combines maximum performance, exceptional durability and a sophisticated ‘Full Black’ aesthetic. Thanks to the advanced N-type cell technology this module achieves an impressive rated output of 460 watts on a standard surface area (under 2 m²), making it the perfect choice for modern homes with limited roof space.
The Double-glazed construction (glass-glass) makes the module extremely resistant to environmental factors such as hail, salt or ammonia and ensures significantly higher fire safety than conventional glass-foil modules. As bifacial module, it also utilises diffuse light falling on the rear surface to generate electricity, which increases the yield, particularly on cloudy days.
Key features at a glance
- N-Type technology: Uses state-of-the-art cell chemistry for higher efficiency, better low-light performance and virtually zero light-induced degradation (LID).
- Bifacial power generation: The active module backside also converts reflected light and ambient light into energy, which can increase the total yield (depending on the mounting method) by 5-30%.
- Glass-to-glass construction: Two layers of tempered glass provide hermetic protection for the cells, resulting in outstanding mechanical strength and durability.
- Elegant all-black design: A black frame, black cells and a dark rear side ensure a uniform, unobtrusive appearance that blends perfectly into dark roofs.
- High efficiency: With a peak output of 460 watts in compact dimensions, it is one of the most powerful modules in its class (108 half-cells).
- Long-term warranty: Benefit from an industry-leading 25-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance warranty.
Areas of application
- Private rooftop installations: Ideal for homeowners who value maximum aesthetics (black finish) and the highest level of safety (glass-glass).
- Carports & patios: Thanks to its bifacial design and robust glass rear side, it is also well suited to semi-open canopies.
- Commercial & industry: For projects where durability and fire protection class (often better with glass-glass) are crucial.
Installation & safety instructions
- Clamping range: When installing, ensure you adhere to the manufacturer’s specified clamping ranges on the 30 mm frame to maintain the warranty and ensure snow load capacity (5400 Pa).
- Glass handling: Glass-glass modules are stable, but sensitive at the corners. Never place the modules on their corners without protection during installation (use edge protection!).
- Cable management: Bifacial modules often have a slightly shorter junction box or cable (approx. 1.2 m). Before planning your string layout, check whether the cable length is sufficient for your planned installation method (portrait/landscape) or whether extension cables are required.

FAQs about the JA Solar JAM54D41-LB
What are the benefits of "bifacial" for a Full Black module on a normal roof?
Even with a roof-parallel installation (distance approx. 10 cm from the tiles), diffuse light and reflections reach beneath the module. The "extra gain" here is lower than on a flat roof with a white surface, but the bifacial cell still helps to make better use of diffuse light. The main advantage of "Full Black" here, however, lies in the glass-glass stability and the appearance.
Why is N-Type better than P-Type?
N-Type cells have a different doping (phosphorus instead of boron). As a result, they do not suffer from the "LID effect" (Light Induced Degradation), so they do not lose any power in the first hours of operation. They also have a better temperature coefficient – so they deliver more electricity than conventional modules even on hot summer days.
Will the module fit my balcony power station?
Yes, absolutely. With 460 watts, it is extremely powerful and gets a lot out even at unfavourable angles. The dimensions (approx. 1.76 x 1.13 m) fit almost all standard mounts. The weight of 22 kg is very moderate for glass-glass and easy to handle.Login
