Product information
The SOLR4100 solar cable (100 metres, 4 mm²) ‘in Rot’ is the ideal cable sold by the metre for large-scale photovoltaic projects and professional installations. With a generous length of 100 metres per roll, it offers maximum flexibility when cabling roof-mounted systems, ground-mounted projects or larger stand-alone systems. The red marking clearly identifies the positive terminal (+), which significantly enhances safety and clarity during installation.
The cable has been specially developed to meet the extreme demands of outdoor use. Thanks to its high-quality 4 mm² cross-section and special double insulation, it is ideally equipped to safely transmit the energy generated by your solar panels with minimal loss for decades to come.
Key features at a glance
- Long range: 100-metre lengths allow for custom cutting without unnecessary intermediate connections or waste.
- Clear polarity: The red outer sheath clearly identifies the positive lead and prevents errors during installation.
- Robust double insulation: The cable features a flame-retardant and halogen-free sheath, which offers optimum protection against mechanical stress.
- Weatherproof & extremely durable: Specially developed for long-term outdoor use – UV-resistant, ozone-resistant and resistant to acids and alkalis.
- Wide temperature range: Reliable operation in extreme weather conditions from -40°C to +90°C (maximum conductor temperature up to +120°C).
- Optimal conductivity: The fine-stranded tinned copper conductor ensures consistently low contact resistance and provides effective protection against corrosion.
Areas of application
The SOLR4100 is the first choice for a wide range of installation scenarios:
- Roof-mounted systems & solar farms
- Creation of customised string connections from the module array to the inverter or junction box.
- Off-grid systems & motorhomes
- Flexible cabling for off-grid systems, where precisely tailored cable lengths are required for a neat installation.
- Plant engineering
- An ideal basic component for installers for assembling customised connection cables with MC4 connectors.
Installation & Safety Instructions
- Professional assembly
- As this is sold by the metre without connectors, we recommend using high-quality MC4 connectors and professional crimping pliers designed for solar cables for the connection.
- Protection against rodents
- When laying the cable in areas at risk from rodents (e.g. barns or on the ground), it should also be routed through a suitable protective conduit.
- Installation in accordance with standards
- Ensure that the cable is laid without tension and secured with UV-resistant cable ties to prevent chafing caused by wind.

FAQs on the red 100m 4mm² solar cable
Is the cable suitable for direct burial?
To a limited extent. The cable is suitable for laying in pipes and ducts in the ground, provided that it is not permanently submerged in water. Direct burial in the ground without a protective conduit is not recommended.
Can I also use this cable for 1500V systems?
Yes. As an H1Z2Z2-K-certified cable, it is designed for a maximum system voltage of 1500V DC and thus complies with the latest standards for photovoltaic installations.
Why is the conductor tinned?
To protect against corrosion. The tin-plating of the copper wires prevents the copper from oxidising, particularly in damp environments or when exposed to salty air. This ensures consistently high conductivity throughout the system’s service life (25+ years).| Cross-section of the conductor: | 4.00 mm² |
