Product information
The Deye SE-F12 is a state-of-the-art low-voltage energy storage system (48V / 51.2V), designed for maximum reliability and performance in residential and commercial solar installations. With an impressive rated capacity of 11.8 kWh (approx. 230 Ah) in a single, compact housing, this storage system offers an excellent balance of high energy density and proven safety.
Thanks to the long-lasting lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cell chemistry and the intelligent battery management system (BMS), the SE-F12 is the ideal choice for users who wish to maximise their self-sufficiency. The system’s enormous scalability also makes it a flexible and future-proof investment in your own energy independence.
Highlights at a glance
- High storage capacity (11.8 kWh): It offers a massive 230 Ah at a nominal voltage of 51.2 V in a single module, which drastically reduces the amount of cabling required compared to smaller 5 kWh blocks.
- Safe LiFePO4 technology: It uses lithium iron phosphate, the safest and most thermally stable cell chemistry on the market, with no risk of thermal runaway.
- High-performance power handling: Enables a maximum continuous discharge current of 230 A (approx. 11.5 kW output) and peak currents of up to 280 A for 10 seconds – ideal for high-power loads such as heat pumps or electric vehicle charging points.
- Extreme scalability: The system scales to meet your requirements. Up to 32 units can be connected in parallel as standard (with a CAN bridge, this can be increased to up to 64 units for a storage capacity of up to 18 MWh).
- Smart monitoring: Equipped with LED status indicators as well as Bluetooth, RS485 and CAN2.0. Seamless integration with the Deye app enables precise real-time monitoring on your smartphone.
- Long service life: Certified for over 6,000 cycles (at 80 % depth of discharge / DoD), which corresponds to a service life of 15+ years with daily charging and discharging.
- Flexible installation: Certified to IP21, the enclosure supports both wall-mounted and floor-standing (stacked) installation to make optimum use of space in the plant room.
Areas of application
The Deye SE-F12 is extremely versatile and is primarily suitable for:
- Detached houses: To maximise self-consumption and as a robust emergency power storage solution in combination with hybrid inverters.
- Commercial systems (C&I): For peak shaving and the storage of large PV yields on agricultural or commercial premises.
- Off-grid systems: Its high continuous load capacity easily handles self-sufficient off-grid systems with high inrush currents.
Installation & Safety Instructions
- Transport and handling: Weighing 84 kg the module is extremely heavy. You must ensure that it is carried into the basement or plant room by two people or using suitable lifting equipment (e.g. a stair climber).
- Temperature management: Although the battery operates within a wide temperature range (-20°C to 55°C during discharge), it should be stored in a frost-free, dry room (15°C to 25°C) to ensure maximum service life and capacity retention. Charging below 0°C is blocked by the integrated BMS for safety reasons.
- Cable sizing: To transmit the enormous maximum continuous current of 230 A without voltage drops or dangerous heat build-up, high-quality battery cables with a cross-section of at least 70 mm² (preferably 95 mm²) between the storage unit and the busbar or inverter is essential.
- Compatibility: The system natively supports the Deye protocol and works best via Plug & Play with Deye low-voltage hybrid inverters (e.g. the SUN-10K or 12K-SG04LP3 series).
FAQs on the Deye SE-F12
Can I use this battery with an inverter from another brand?
In principle, yes. The Deye SE-F12 uses standard communication protocols (CAN/RS485) and can often be operated with compatible third-party brands. However, the correct BMS protocol must be manually configured on the battery (via software or DIP switches). Neither the manufacturer nor the retailer provides any support for setting up the system for use with third-party products. A fully functional system can only be guaranteed when using the Deye own-brand product. Please check the compatibility list in advance.
What happens in the event of a power cut at home?
If you combine the SE-F12 with a hybrid inverter capable of providing emergency power (such as the Deye SG04 series), the system will switch to battery operation within milliseconds in the event of a mains power failure. Thanks to the high discharge power (up to 11.5 kW from a single battery), you can continue to supply even large three-phase loads on the domestic circuit without any problems.
Why do some shops list it as "SE-F12-C"?
The abbreviation "-C" usually refers to the latest model revision (often the EU version), which is fitted with an integrated LCD display on the front of the casing. This allows cell voltages and SoC to be read directly. The raw performance specifications for the standard SE-F12 are identical.
