Description
Product information
This solar extension cable set (2 metres, 4mm²) is the ideal solution for short bridging in your photovoltaic system. When installing balcony power plants or connecting solar modules in series, it is often just a few metres missing to lay the cables without voltage. With this 2-metre set you can solve the problem professionally and safely.
The set consists of two high-quality, double insulated solar cables: a red cable for the plus pole (+) and a black cable for the minus pole (-). Both ends are already pre-fitted with MC4-compatible plugs and sockets ready-made ("Plug & Play"). The 4mm² cross-section made of tinned copper ensures absolutely loss-free power transmission over this short distance. The sheathing is extremely resistant to UV radiation, heat, cold and moisture.
Highlights at a glance
- Perfect quick solution: 2 metres length is ideal for connecting modules with each other (string) or for slightly extending the route to the inverter.
- Plug & Play: No pliers required – the cables are pre-assembled with MC4-compatible plugs and sockets on both sides.
- Safety colour code: The combination of Red (+) and Black (-) prevents dangerous polarity reversal and makes maintenance easier.
- Loss-free: At only 2 metres length, the voltage drop with 4mm² cross-section is virtually unmeasurable (almost 0%).
- Weatherproof (IP67): The connections are dustproof and water-resistant, the insulation withstands extreme temperatures (-40°C to +90°C).
- Durable: Halogen-free, UV- and ozone-resistant sheath for a service life of over 25 years in outdoor areas.
Areas of application
The 2-metre extension is a classic "problem solver" cable:
- Series connection (strings): To connect two solar modules that are not directly adjacent (e.g. due to a skylight or chimney in between).
- Balcony power stations: If the factory cables on the module are too short to reach the micro inverter conveniently behind the frame.
- Camping & boat: Flexible connector for portable solar suitcases or panels on the motorhome roof.
- Charge controller connection: Connection from the roof penetration to the nearby charge controller indoors.
Installation & safety instructions
- Plug connection: Always press plug and socket together as far as they will go until a clearly audible "click" is heard. This is the only way to guarantee tightness (IP67).
- Bend radius: Even with short cables: do not bend the cable directly at the plug housing. Leave the cable about 3-5 cm straight run distance.
- Fastening: Do not allow the cable to flap loosely in the wind ("knocking" on the roof). Attach it with UV-resistant cable ties to the module frame or substructure.
- Disconnect: Never disconnect the plugs under load (in operation). Always switch off the consumer/inverter first.

FAQs on the 2m solar extension cable
Do I absolutely need 4mm² for 2 metres length or is thinner ok?
4mm² is the standard and ideal. Thinner cables (e.g. 2.5mm²) are less mechanically robust and the plugs often fit less well. 4mm² offers the optimum compromise of flexibility and conductivity. A 6mm² cable would be unnecessarily expensive and stiff for this short length.
Do the plugs fit my Hoymiles/Deye inverter?
Yes. The micro-inverters from Hoymiles, Deye, NEP etc. have standardised MC4 plugs (or compatible BC01/TS4). These extension cables fit perfectly in between mechanically.
Can I plug two of these cables together to get 4 metres?
Yes, easily. Thanks to the plug-socket principle, you can plug several cables together ("daisy-chaining"). Just note that every connection point can be a potential source of moisture – a continuous 4m or 5m cable would be more elegant, but technically 2x 2m is also possible.Properties
